Yes it will go ahead. I am sending the email I had to the Dover forum to have a look at.
The Chess Championship will need some funding and at this time I do not know where that will come from, but we will find it.
Thank you Colin for that.

Vic, I`m not sure if the above is all true. I think you`d better check mate.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

We had agood meeting tonight with a local club sorry to say not in Dover because at this time there is not one,but I am geting backing for this event I am told there is always 50 or more take part and they bring along their familys aswell so it should be good if there are any chess players out there up to the age of 18 they can also play on the day which is great news and we could have a Dover Jr Kent Champion.
En passant Vic, have you researched the benefits of chess tournaments in other locations to se if they actually do make a difference to the local economy?
Obviously a World Championship or even National Championship may do, but generally, do we know what the positives and negatives of such events are?

Mr Perkins at this very time in Canterbury there is one going on and yes it is helping alot with the local economy but you just can not put a very big event on just like that ,you have to build up to it ,and that is what I hope to do The one next year is bigger then the one we put on two years ago.
There are no negatives it is all for the good. There is a chess tournament on in Sandwich on in about 3weeks time which I will be going along to.Going back to the 1950s60s chess was big in Dover with its own club and we had open air tournaments in the town.
