i think the cinema group have done their homework and are expecting a big turnout from deal, walmer, the villages and not forgetting people from dover itself that couldn't be bothered to travel to westwood cross or ashford.

We could certainly do with a new cinema. We usually go to Ashford if we want to watch a film as the one we have in Dover is just too small.

But, but, but We've already have the giant telly! They're going to show adverts too. It's already responsible for a massive regeneration of the area - You can see the town centre transformed already. Why it's like living next to the Tate don't you know.

The question mark at the end serves to remind us that waiting for regeneration in Dover is like supporting the England football team; we get drawn in by the hype only to have hopes dashed.
Is this part of the plan that was being alluded to by councillors in recent pots or another false dawn?

Be interesting to see if it does open whether there will be any free customer parking available?

Howard, I was referring to Watty's silence and the Behatted Sue's references to resurrection

By the time DTIZ opens, cinemas will be replaced with streamed holographic entertainment in our own homes.

This is precisely the rumours I heard, as I said at the time if it happens its extremely positive.
It seems Terry shares my cynicism but I hope its misplaced

I truly hope that there is substance to this but I will not hold my breathe.
The demographic and viability issues cannot have changed that much. I think it might be a bit of kite flying and wishful thinking, I hope I am wrong.

i was stunned when i read that for the same reasons barry has out-lined but stick by my comments in post 3.
the other ridiculous demands for skating rinks and bowling alleys are never going to happen.

Didn't I say there was going to be some good news coming soon (and got slated for it by people's cynicism) ?

that is why i give facebook a wide berth, look in now and again.
it seems that most dovorians think that watty and co own all the shops, they think that ddc should demolish private properties like burlinngton house and the best one was the idea to demolish the whole town centre and rebuild it.
no mention of any council tax hike in order to do so.

Especially when they get it round the wrong way

, Morrisons arrived after Netto (taken over by Asda) was well established. I admit I only read the first couple of comments from Paul's link.

All this talk of this coming or that coming is only good news if it happens, too many false dawns to get excited.
