Next Tuesday, 9th March, BBC TV's The One Show is being broadcast live from the Sea Sports Centre building on Dover Beach as presenter Christine Bleakley prepares her attempt to water ski the Channel the following morning (in aid of Sport Relief). The Producer has asked for a 'crowd' of locals to be there, and my wife has asked me to put this on this forum and Dover Locals to drum up support.
If you would like to be there, please be at the Sea Sports Centre for 6.00 pm. The shows goes on air at 7.00 pm and ends at 7.30 pm. I understand that there may be an opportunity to meet Christine Bleakley and that former England Cricketer Phil Tufnell may also be there.
Hope to see you all there.

Good Morning
If you were going to come along to the Sea Sports Centre this evening for the live outside broadcast of the One Show, where Christine Bleakely is to water-ski across the Channel, it has been postponed until Wednesday evening. Same time.
The water's still too cold for me though ! (I can't water-ski anyway).

Thanks Roger
The pre-launch show has been put back by a day due to a weather forecast tomorrow of wind conditions that would have rendered her attempt at this feast impossible. See you all tomorrow, same time same place.

Darn. I enjoy watching The One Show after the news and was looking forward to coming down to the Sea Sports Centre tonight. Rejoining Maersk Dover tomorrow for two weeks so that's out of the window. I think they are asking too much of Christine Bleakley, a gorgeous fragile flower who doesn't deserve to have her arms pulled out of their sockets for over twenty miles across the Dover Strait. Hope she makes it but, if not, full marks for trying.

Right there Ed, expecting her to complete it will make Eddie Izzards 50-odd marathons look like a walk in the park. Good luck to get though !

My wife has just heard from the BBC. Sadly, tomorrow night's show has also been put back by 24 hrs, so that they are now hoping the show will go out on Thursday night.
I might ask what they expected in the Dover Strait at this time of year.......

At the moment, that is what it means Bern. However, the weather forecast is for strong winds in the Channel on Friday, so the Water Sports Centre are confidently predicting next week now!

I've sent emails round about this and about the change of date, but I don't want to send anymore until I know of a real date.
If you can let me know when it will definitely be going ahead Andy, I'll be very happy to send it round.

in the lap of the gods roger, i would think it impossible to set a date at present with all these strong winds about.
that is not a reference to vic and colin with their beans.

On the end of the One-Show just now, the weather man said there will be strong winds tomorrow, but Friday the winds will be better, but it will be raining.
At the moment they are talking of it being done on Friday. Brave girl.

So, the BBC have confirmed with the Sea Sports Centre that the outside broadcast will definitely be going ahead tonight, Thursday 11th March, live at 7.00pm ending at 7.30pm. Again, the producer is asking if people who would like to come along could be there for 6.00pm.
Finally, then, see you tonight, hopefully
