After reading the problems around the Dover area it all comes down to the same people now, not the police but the PSO's.
It's pass the buck time and blame someone else........
I do admire these guys but at the same time they also pass the buck.......let me explain.
A couple of weeks ago the river had large amounts of garden rubbish flowing down the river along Barton path, and I mean a lot.
I rang the local PSO and reported it, who in turn reprted it to her collegue who would sort it as he was on the spot.
I told them the exact location and it carried on for about 4 hours, so I left it at that and it still continued.
A week later I saw the same PSO that I had reported it to and asked what the result was and the reply was..................
We could not find anyone littering the river with any kind of rubbish.
Yet I still witnessed the rubbish going in. So what does that tell you. I still get paid and ignore everything? you tell me.

It is heartbreaking to see this lovely estuary strewn with litter.Perhaps a ducking stool would deter the persistent offenders. Then maybe they would experience what it would be liked to be thrown into the River Dour.

Ducking stool, yep, I like that a lot.
Hopefully SITA will get their act together after their non-collection balls-up last week. It's not the first time they have failed to collect, but hopefully it will be the last.

OOOOOOH Haward I am intrigued.
What have you been up to, you haven't bucked the system have you and upset people.
Is your address private, we don't want you going AWOL in the middle of the night and moving to Wales.

ok ian, a few details here.
i walked through pencester gardens yesterday evening, there was a lot of shhouting , screaming and punches being thrown.
i stood there for a few moments, purely for amusement value!!
just the usual suspects, then i noticed a baby buggy, nervously i went over to the altercation, found two "*****" fighting over the top of it, liquid being spilt, the air was blue.
i looked in the buggy, there was a boy about 18 months old shaking like a leaf.
i tried to calmly reason with the 2 gentleman and 3 ladies there, that the baby was frightened.
i got the expected response!!
i dialled 999, gave a message that said "altercation, pencester gardens, dover, baby in danger", the reply was we need to take down some details.
naturally i disconnected my mobile at that point.
the town was running alive with police, working on the carnival.
after 10 more minutes, i admit, i got scared, and went down to a bus shelter to regain my composure.
after another 20 minutes the 3 stooges arrived, i was later advised that they were "specials" by another member of this forum.
they naturally let everyone go.
if baby in danger meets with this response, what will they do about old ladies murdered outside the bingo hall?
i apologise for being melodramatic, but i woke every hour during last night, thinking about the baby in pencester.

Scary indeed Howard - maybe more specials should have been attending the Carnival's needs and more "real" coppers dealing with that type of incident.
Glad to hear the baby was O.K. but it so easily might not have been.

Howard.
It's a a shame you had to witness something like that, the toddler would have been the last thing on their minds. It makes you wonder what the child will be brought up like and how they will be when they are of the same age.
I wonder how many people ring the police now when they see something? Is it worth them bothering knowing they will not get a result or a response?
What happened to ZERO TOLERANCE.....
The crims win again.

It's about time the whole police reporting procedure was looked at. I suppose some scientific guru has set out a flow chart but IT DOESN'T WORK!
Why is it that they seem to take more interest in my personal details than they do the incident? Once when reporting an incident the first thing they wanted to know was MY name, MY address, MY phone number etc. In exasperation I also proferred 32" and YA 14 17 79A respectively. You can work out what they are!

If you told them you thought one of the protagonists was armed the place would have been swarming with coppers in flak jackets and military gear in less than 10 minutes.
"Sorry, my mistake". I don't advise actually trying this.

Terry- if the YA is 'your actual' you should not post it on a public forum.....I will say no more.

thanks for all your posts, i still fairly ashamed of myself for not doing more.
boris johnson insists that we all turn the other cheek for our own safety.
i can understand why some people do that, we are all made differently.
i spent 3 hours today looking after my 3 year old friend, that has the advantage of a normal mum and dad, that sometimes have odd hours that clash and they need me to play the granddad bit.
she runs me ragged, going through all the drawers in the place looking for things that interest her.
the poor lad on saturday would probably never understand the simple pleasures of being relaxed, with no-one
shouting and being aggresive.

Had a similar call myself at the weekend - won't go into details - but by the time (yet again) I explained where the Western Heights were, what the carpark is, who I am, my shoe size, what I had for dinner, am I going on holiday this year, hear about their family and what they are doing for xmax - they were long gone.....
I even phoned a local 01303 number about it and they just put me back to Maidstone control
Been nice knowing you :)
