they were indeed martin, i was quite pleased to see that.
the big teams that reach finals, germany, italy and brazil tend to start off looking bad then peak when the big matches come up.
would still like to avoid them in the round of the last 16 assuming we get there though.
Don't forget they were playing an aged Australian team who offered very little in the way of class. Interesting to see them keep the ball on the ground for almost the entire match. Good pass and move tactics with excellnt goals, but, against a bunch of convicts, what did we expect?

Germany played very well tonight especially when you take into account that they are a young team, looks like we will more than likely meet them in the last sixteen

I didn't like their obvious dives, glad to see that the referee booked at least one if not two german players for diving.
Yes, he booked the Brazilian, erm, sorry, naturalised German/Brazilian, erm German. I wonder what part of Germany you would come from to gt a name like Cacau? Brazilian Germany? Brazil Brazil? Brazil Moenchengladbach?
Nice to see a Jock traitor playing for the Aussies too! Born in Aberdeen no less! Muchos enjoyment watching him getting a pasting from the Brazilians, oops sorry, Germans.

I won't get into Sid's stuff on what country may be born.
To be fair the Germans did play well but against a very very ordinary Australian side, who realy had little to offer and had given up in the very early stages of the game.
I thought when the Australian player was interviewed prior to the game whenm he said they were inferior to the Germans and didnt have a chance that it was a tactic, but i now believe he meant it! lol

Yes the Germans certainly looked good last night but it is hard to tell just how bad the Australians were. Usually in the World Cup the minnow nations can play out of their sox so its not easy to beat anyone. However the Australians didnt fit into the fighting minnow category...they just didnt have anything at all, so when they went down to 10 men it was well and truly all over. The viewing nation went out to put the kettle on.
Just as a matter of interest Keith, Brazilians have become naturalised, Russians, Germans, Portuguese (not surprising), Belgian and a number of other nationalities. It's almost like a ploy to trade on the reputations of the great Brazilian players of the past in order to get a citizenship and international football by the backdoor.
Oddly enough, we don't seem to get any Brazilians coming to the Home nations and attempting to naturalise and qualify for one of the national teams. I wonder why that is?

Germany were awesome last night. Don't let xenophobia cloud your judgement, Sid - they were a class above England were against the USA. One can only hope that England have yet to get into their stride and that the Germans have peaked too soon. I thought Bastien Schweinsteiger looked real class.
True friends stab you in the front.
No xenophobia Andy. the USA are a class above the Socceroos and only just lost to Brazil inthe Confederations Cup Final. I watched that match live in Lagos and make no mistake, The USA are a decent team and Germany would have had the same trouble we did against them.
Grmany did look good, but it's always dangerous to judge how good a team is when they play poor opposition, the real test is when trying to deal with a quality opponent. Germany have that task to come.

Thank you Vic, and West Germany were always my second choice when England were out. Those were the days of the 70s though of Beckenbaur and Muller.

Yes They have always been good ,and if I had the cash I would also like to live in Germany. I worked and lived out there for over a year and liked it we do go back from time to time and Lesley likes it to, they keep in nice and clean and the police are very stong out there and good at what they do.

Latest from the England camp: Rob Green has today trained for 6 hours, had 3000 shots fired at him and not conceded one goal.
Tomorrow he, and Emile Heskey, will resume training with the rest of the squad.

if robert green has read all the stuff said about him back here, he will not have the confidence to carry on into the next match.
