the vast majority of modern day immigration is from the new europe.
the blues have absolutely no plans to stop that.

Wider issue than EU, Howard. Add asylum and immigration from non EU and you have the wider picture. Not all EU currently in the system. Complex.

The world is bigger than Dover......
Is it? Since when?

Since other people outside Dover make decisions that impact on Dover, Andy.

i stand by my post, immigration will grow at a slightly lower pace under this new government, nothing dramatic.
the population will continue to rise to unsustainable levels, services will not rise to cope with this.
all the red candidates for labour now say that was the biggest reason that they lost so much traditional support.
people felt that they were losing out on employment opportunities and that wage rates fell for those in work.

Howard, you bear out the point of my posting to Roger.

I'm sorry Paul, maybe I didn't phrase my posting very well.
I said Conservatives mostly, because UKIP voters generally come from traditional Conservative voters and they are more concerned about EU (and non-EU) immigration.
Labour, as a party and Government, have always been happy with increasing immigration without any real controls; in fact it formed part of their policy I thought.
We as Conservatives must take cognisance of the majority of the population's view, that we as a country, are full up.
People from Eastern Europe will generally be happy to work for less than the minimum wage because it is still more than they would get at home, hence the lowering of wages in many cases.
I am a "True Blue", but still feel able to say if things are not being done right - admittedly my previous posting implied something I didn't mean it to.
Sid.
I did "condition" that all embracing bit, to Europe and Immigration. I didn't mean all embracing as in some of the softie stuff.

Roger, yes,it was your phrasing.
I'm a true blue and I am sure I will have a different view on some coalition and even Conservative issues.
No need to keep quiet, we don't live in a totalitarian society.

Indeed we don't. If we did, Alastair Darling would have taxed it before now.

you are not suggesting that dave and nick are working towards a police state?
that would never do.

Not suggesting anything Howard. Just pointing out we are free to express our personal viewpoints as Roger indicates.
