Raquel Squelch is married to a cosmetic surgeon, and if I recall correctly, she has the surgery for him, and done by him.

Not old enough to be my Grandmother Bern.
There are a few Ladies of a certain age who have kept their looks, Sophia Loren, for one, Joan Collins I believe too and I'm sure one or two others who don't immediately spring to mind.
If it's mutton dressed as lamb, that's different to these beautiful Ladies.
Roger
Britt Ekland springs to my mind. Why she hooked up with the brilliant madman Sellers when she could have had me instead I'll never know.

Sophia Loren is very beautiful but she has been nipped and tucked, ditto the lovely Jane Fonda. Kudos to both of them as they don't look 'plastic'. Madonna looks younger now than she did in her 20s

Indeed - looking lovely, but too much effort and expense! I love the old make-up and a bit of pampering, but even if I had a promise of looking fabulous i don't think the effort and money is worth it. i'd rather have a glass and a laugh!!

You may be thinking hang on a second didn't Jeane say she was against cosmetic surgery on a previous thread? What I am against are young women in their late teens / early twenties who are having unnecessary and potentially dangerous surgery. As I said before, fair enough if a something is causing problems mentally or physically or following an accident, but in a lot of cases young girls just jump on the bandwagon and become addicted to having bits nipped and tucked.
Women of a certain age know the risks and can make an informed decision. I can understand that Rachel, Sophia and Jane have been in the public eye seemingly forever and people expect them to look a certain way like they did in their various films. They have the money to go to a reputable surgeon and the results are great. Most young girls do not have that kind of money and will be forever in debt or risk going to a dodgy surgeon whom they have found in the back of a magazine or fly off to a country where cheap cosmetic surgery is offered, but hey your surgeon may not speak English, but never mind!
I'm with you Bern!!

Raquel Welch does look attractive in the picture, there`s no denying that, but if it were me, I`d feel everyone who spoke to me, or who I was speaking to would be staring at me, trying to spot any joins, or just out of curiosity. I would never feel comfortable, whether it were me had it done, or someone I knew had had it done. One great name missing from above, and near 90 now, who doesn`t need it, Doris Day.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.
Colin, if you looked like Raquel, we would indeed be giving you funny looks.

I think not Sid, if I looked like her, (neck upwards), you wouldn`t know the difference?

Like I said to Sid Roger, if I looked like her, I`d be called by her name, and equally, if I looked like her, I`d want to be called like her, the reason for which I`d have chosen in the first place to look like her.

. With all the money in the world though, I just want to be me, and I`ll leave other member`s to comment as to whether they`d like to be anybody if they had the cash, (or plastic).

I'm happy being me; at my age I'm comfortable where I am and what I am - I'd like to be a bit slimmer though, but can't run to lipo-suction.

There is a lot to be said for just being oneself. I introduced myself to my new workforce the other day as "an unreconsructed battleaxe", who was on their team! Be honest, I say!!!
