Priory has done much the same
I know that Shiela and her p/f gang will get on with the work as they always do.
They have always been focused and also recognised the work overload.
I do recall the PACT being on agenda and wots in a name if its PACE as long as it benefits ward thats all that matters.
good luck to the volunteers of priory forum (and all other volunteers)

20:3812073Just to bring this back to the top again, the meeting is on Tuesaday 06th Jan at the Scout hut on Astor Avenue at 7pm.If you live or work in Tower Hamlets please come along, this meeting is to set up the running of a new Pact group, and we are there to listen to your complaints which we will try to put right but we will also be bringing you some new ideas on positive things going on in Tower Hamlets.
There will be a large spinkling of Councillors plus people from Enviormental Health and Southern Housing as well as some of the Schools and if you get there early you may even get a cup of tea.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

17:4112143No I don't Howard,PACT has had some good reports and in some areas not so good,Anne Smith from Buckland will be telling us how it has worked or not in Buckland, but Tower Hamlets is different from Buckland as it is from St Rads and even your area. Not because we have different problems but because the areas are different but I am sure the same problems will arise.
We are lucky in so far we have a village atmosphere because there is really only one road in and one road out. There are problems as I have said and no doubt we will be told what they are but we also want to tell me about some of the little schemes that we will be working on,especially as I have been working with the Schools in the area,The Mural was a start, the next will be our students from DGSB doing thier bit,Astor have volunteered some students later in the year, and I am working on a Community project working with all the 'Secondary' Schols in Dover which will benefit a Church in the Ward.
We have some good people on board as well as the Councillors PSCO Community Warden and Mandi Shembi having an input.I am not saying it will work but knowing the people already involved I wouldn't bet against it.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

10:4712216Basically to get all intrested parties working together,to highlight the problems and the good points and do something about them,to listen to ideas and inform all those who are there what is happening.

20:1212230fair enough.
at the end of most meetings, i would imagine that the things that would have been discussed most would need outside intervention .
dirty streets, anti social behaviour/low level crime or misdemeanours plus extras like untaxed cars taking up valuable parking spaces.
the above would require investment from the council, kent police and the dvla.
each would say that there is no additional funding.
sorry to be cynical, but i have seen all this many times before.

22:3712249Well we had a very succesful meeting with about 25 people present, although we advertised the meeting it was really to see if the clubs and organisations were on board, then if they were to call a second meeting to form a PACT group then to get out to the public,.We have agreed that we have the support and arranged our second meeting for Feb 10th at the Scout Hut on Astor Avenue 7pm.
We were impressed with two students who are setting up a Company through BGSB who are looking to brighten up the Hamlets by using bits of unused land to build a Community Garden and working with Primay Schools to grow Vegtables and sell them thru Age Concern and other Agencies,we have helped them get some land and they will be having a web site and we will be producing a Tower Hamlets newsletter.
Once we have the PACT Committee we will then engage the general public and hopefully set up Neighbourhood Watch and other Community activities,we know that PACT has not always worked but we are very confident we have the right people already on board. We will then have many people being the Eyes in Tower Hamlets all working to make the area a better cleaner safer place to live and enjoy.
We have already the commitment from Councillors and Officers ,PCSO and Community Warden, Churches,Housing Associations, Parking Services it will not cost lots of money, but any we need to raise can/will be done by our group, starting this Summer.Areally worthwhile meeting.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

10:2814323The second meeting will be held on Tuesday 10th February at the Scout Hut on Astor Avenue at 7pm,when we will choose who will be running PACT and then discussing what will be on the Agenda for the March meeting.
As I said the first meeting was very positive and if you live or work in Tower Hamlets and would like an input please come along.
