Non! The French way is no better than our own; it's high time that Europe learned that the British are not the soft option. I don't know why we always think the other way is better - perhaps we see continenal ways as more sophisticated, somehow more chic and sexy - but the fact is that we have let Johnny Foreigner walk all over us. I love Europe, France especially so, but not to the exclusion of all things British, and it's time we stood up for ourselves as a nation with backbone instead of being a soft touch all the time.
We are not, in the immortal words of Groundskeeper Willie, "Cheese-eating Surrender Monkeys".

andy,if thats so why not join fully including the euro for currency and fight with backbone heads held high and the bulldog sprite that we supposed to be famous for, beats whimpering on the sidelines like a poodle.

Andy well said,Brian if we do what you are saying it would not happen just like Mr Farrage when he got up and said what he was thinking, he was told he was out of order and to sit down.
Marek Mr Farrage is no longer our leader, that is lord Pearson now, please try and keep up with the rest of us.

A contradiction in terms, surely........how can you possibly say why not join fully including the euro currency with backbone, heads held high and bulldog spirit? The answer is simple - because the bloody Euro isn't British, is it? And it will be a cold day in hell before I stand up for the Euro, and when I do it will surely not be with Bulldog Spirit, French Poodle Spirit more like.
I know you're a Europhile, Brian, but frankly you're speaking like everything British is just second rate, and it's that kind of cobblers and betrayal that has made this country the whipping boy of Europe. Why can an Englishman not stand up for his own country any more? Because of the drip, drip, drip of 'Europe is best' coming through our EU-financed media, that's why. I'm sick to death of being told that my homeland must play second fiddle to some ridiculous EU superstate.

couldn't agree more with that last post, being proud of our country and standing up for it is not being anti foreigner.
So 'wogs' start in Calais?

Who said anything about wogs? Pride in being English starts in Dover, more like - or, at least, it should.

andy, with no disrespect to your anti-eu views, but all the time we are standing on the fence we will be riddiculed constanly.withdrawing is not the answer either.the only way forward is to intigrate within the eu and fight for a better deal.as the saying goes you got to be init to win it.

Not all of us want to betray this country and join the EU Soviet.
Its not only UKIP who are appalled by that monstrous, corrupt, bullying, inefficient and nannying organisation.

Brian, No I do not think so it is what I think. Also I am always thinking outside the box or as some would say"Forward thinking."
Brian, I think you`re slightly missing the point.
You say, " you got to be init to win it ". Where you`re wrong is that, as far as we`re concerned, we would have actually "won" it, simply by leaving it!!
Also that`s much easier and more effective than begging for concessions and vague "opt outs" etc. that we rarely get anyway. Those that we do always come at a cost as we then have to give something in return.
There`s no such thing as a free meal in the EU. ( at least, not if you`re British! )
