My point was concerned purely with council cabinet members - not the working population in general.
I cannot help but think that if the people making the decisions lived in central Dover then it would be in a much better state.
And if they are going to bully and disregard the wishes of entire communities as they have done at Whitfield, they have to accept that some people will fight back.

I donot wish to argue against a member of the cabinet however I have read the report again and it clearly states £ 70,000 from Special Revenue budget .The whole project will cost £110,000 Sandwich town Council are making a grant of £40,000.Add £70.000 and £40,000and you get the sum of £110,000.
Sandwich Town Council will be paying for the future upkeep .
The Agenda is on the web site .
I have also checked with the reporting officer .

Correct, my apologies.
The point is that STC are supporting their corner.

I suppose you can only be sacked once Sue, keep up the good work.
I have spent the past few years commuting to and from London daily so feel able to comment on commuters! Even if one doesn't live in the area where one has professional responsibilities, working there, and not a few miles away, is essential. To properly represent or understand an area it really is important to feel it and be able to take its temperature on a daily basis and you don't have to live there to do that, just spend a fair proportion of the working week there. not, for example, in a place like Whitfield which is removed from the hub of what should be the centre of the local political universe.

Bern I was at the hub centre today waiting for a bus .I spoke to a manager of stagecoach and gently reminded him of the problems on route 62 .A meeting was held weeks ago which i was not invited to but i got reports back and the plan of action to be taken .Nothing has transpired .
On the bus home i was advised of a tree problem blocking the light of a street lamp .
I was in the hub and only out on a shopping trip .
Tonight out with leaflets and got an ear bashing .Im not even standing for election .
Exactly, Sue - you use the facilities and because you are at the hub you can take the pulse of the place better than those who work and live away from it. There is no substitute for presence.

Funny I have been out leafleting as well, and I have had no problems at all,in fact had some very good chats and positive ones at that.many pensioners are saying they love Labour.I can't wait to become one of the silver tops, like Sue and Paul, talking of tops I see that the former Red/Blue/Gold top is our lastest new member.
I thought he had left the Country,I am talking about Ken Tranter.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
