Yes, it seems that Nural Islam and others have been ridden over roughshod by DDC and Bond City.
It isn't the right place for a supermarket and I don't like the take it or leave it attitude. It's just the same with the hospital and the PCT.

Yes - the Beggars can't be Choosers attitude is irritating and arrogant.

Chris
and here I am again agreeing with you!!!!
the indian restaraunt owner I spoken to many times, and hes realy upset the way its all been handled and he has a good business here, well used, and its a shame.
And hes good for Dover and if you get him on board would help.
But hes left out in the cold and will just go to the end which is sad.

does anyone know why the businesses in that part of town have not been consulted and offered relocation?
In response to JHG's rather terse reply to my earlier posting on this thread, I'd just like to say that I'm a Dovorian by birth (Buckland Hospital, of course), and lived in the town for the first 18 years of my life before upping to university, France and Spain, then the Smoke, then back to sunny East Kent. My parents are/were Dovorians, as are my siblings, and as were my grandparents and several generations before them.
I now live in Deal, yes, but as a Dover council tax payer and a fiercely proud Dovorian I think I'm entitled to proffer an opinion or two as my poor old home town, through no fault of its own, sleepwalks into Wal-Mart's gaping maw.
I have come up with several other sympathetic alternatives for the St James area on previous threads.
To coin a football cliche with regard to this forum, it's all about opinions, isn't it?

Andrew
Your right, we all have voiced opinions, and yours are valued, views on ASDA have been varied
those giving it 100% support
those giving it luke support as its the best we will get
those 100 % against the proposal.
Somehow we have to move Dover forward in all of this. thats what matters. I welcome your views Andrew
we\ may not always agree, but I value any ones opinions.
John is passionate about Dover and I know he wants the best for Dover, and he will do all he can to achieve this, what we need is to all work together to achieve, but not be frightened to challenge if we feel we have a view.
thats what the forum's about, isn't it?
Absolutely, Keith.
I know that fundamentally we are all singing from the same hymn sheet with regards to wanting the very best for Dover. We wouldn't be so passionate nor bother posting on this forum otherwise, would we?
But after so many false dawns, false starts, fudge-coated spin, spin-coated fudges, obfuscations and lengthy periods of inertia (and we're talking decades here!) it's not surprising some of us get a tad irate from time to time, is it?
Here's hoping for some tangible green shoots of recovery for old Dubris soon. Please make it so.
Regards all,
Andy

Thank Keith,Andrew I understand your feelings and as I have said before things are moving but for most too slowly.
Ihave just come back from the North West,Carlilse is a lovely town with a thriving shopping area including a lanes concept, with little covered walkways behind the main shopping streets really buzzing and this was a Sunday mind you they did have an International food festival on.
We then went to Leeds and Keithley, and I know they have little in common with Dover but the amount of regeneration and building work that is going on there is amazing, remember this is the 'poor' North while we live in the 'Rich'South, yet there seems to be plenty of money up there,it seems as if the banks and the Insurance companies are putting in the money.Marek I got your things you wanted from Damart in Bingley your long johns
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Thanks John.Did you manage to get the pink ones with the extra large trapdoor?
How about the dripping and traditional Blackburn Black Puddings?
Being serious when I return to Stockport one of the first places to build a shopping centre they incorporated the old streets with the new precinct.ie Woollies,Marks&Sparks and others had to build new doors fronting the precinct as well as those fronting Princess St the old shopping High St.Instead of building out of town Tesco they built one right in town albeit to the end of the precinct and guess what all the other stores followed asda Morrisons sainsbury etc.Not a charity shop in site.Ample parking with a multi storey that had a lift going straight down into the precinct just outside the co-op.And no it wasn't built recently it was built in the late 60's and became so popular that other leading stores followed.Incorporated with the old pubs and new restaurants its a place to visit even if you just want to window shop.

I think therefore I am (not a Tory supporter)
