Some negative comments here. Having spent a good deal of time last year in william harvey I would say they would be happy to send people from capel etc to a new Dover facility - esp emergency. A full general hospital is not expected until our numbers go up but that is why it is silly to spend money at Buckland when we should have a plan for whitfield/ connaught on a site that can expand as demand increases - which we all know it will.
In Dover is no good for Deal or the parishes around. In dover wont give you parking improvement. Whitfield has the best transport links for the 110 000 of the district. Buckland and its access is terrible - even for Dover residents. Better things can be done with the site.

the populations of canterbury and ashford are much more concentrate than dover district.
we must be pragmatic here, as sue has stated there is little chance of a general hospital until all the new houses are built.
back to that 8 million, how can it be used to good effect up at buckie?
I realise postings need to be in context, but we must all know by now that Sue N has relatives high up in the NHS........

Ah now now now guys and gals lets not be too harsh on our Sue as its a good thing to have her contributing and she makes a very valuable contribution too. If someone keeps getting it in the neck they wont bother to contribute any more and then we will all lose out. I think thats whats happened to our Nigel sadly... but he may yet resurface. We need to keep our councillors interested.

Whilst Sue and I won't always agree even more so since she has gone into the administration!
She , like our BAZ and others has a right to a view.
It is by active posting that we all find out whats going on around Dover.
Many campaigns started here.
Its amusing if paulb view on why nigel may not post as iv had this conversation with nigel some time ago with nigel and he didnt agree then, but now i suppose positions have changed!
Sorry.......it was all too tempting and I have trouble resisting temptation.......I would be the first to encourage people to keep posting. It has to be added, though, that those who take public office should probably be able to handle the critisism and challenge as well as the plaudits that come with it....and mine are always good-humouredly intentioned.

Personally i think the one person we should all be listening to is David Hannent, he probably knows more about the pros and cons of this subject than anyone else on here.
Why keep knocking Sue and Nigel? They are as entitled as any other member on here to express an opinion. Sue was merely mentioning about her family because it was relevant to the subject being discussed.
I find it amazing that Mr Matcham can publish all that self congratulatory stuff about his past that some of us, me included, found totally boring yet Sue mentions one thing and gets slammed for it!
Sue keep on posting as you do please and Nigel - come back soon if you can.

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

How are yer girl??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Sue does tend to tell everyone her woes, but I can also be accussed of that.
On Vic, I have to be honest, it was to me totaly boring and I didnt read more than 2 lines, so its a matter of choice realy.
I have tried to share my words of pleb wisdom to Vic, but not surprizingly it was ignored, as was other advice given to him by other people. But Vic will be Vic.
Bern
I do understand where you come from, but local politics is desperate to get more people involved, and by these ntinued attacks and ridicule by not just local people, it does get disheartning, and there has to be a line you draw before it becomes unfair.
If local politicians have to be attacked(which i don't agree with in total) then so be it
but the line has to be drawn at attempting to widen this by contact with wives, son in laws, sons, neighbours, TO try to dampen someones character, that cant except as they are not connected, but it goes on.
and I feel strongly that the politician is the one in question, not others who probably dont need the hassle and why should they
wow now iv gone on long time

Hi Keith,
I'm fine thank you - not heard from you for a while - lost my email address? lol
Yes I agree about Vic. It just annoys me when people knock Sue yet he comes on here with all his rubbish and no-one says anything. I know you tried to talk sense to him but as you said - he didn't listen. I find him totally objectionable and don't read anything posted by him, so boring. I expect I'll be criticized for saying that but it's my opinion which I think quite a few people share - yourself included. This has nothing to do with politics either by the way!

Hi,
my life so busy at mo iv still not got E mail set up and MSN etc
asked my boys but there so busy as well and it aint cool!!
so will get round to it.
on the issue of Sue; All I say is she doesnt have a car, but like a lot of us we use public transport, and it would be boring if everyone said when they got in/out of car what you had for breakfast etc and im guilty of it as well
on VIC
Although I may not share his VISION? he does have passion, maybe he needs to channel it in different ways?
but I will always defend the right for people to post.
What was offending to me was a recent post by BAZ indicating people with differing views were rubbish, that was an unfortunate post, and I know it has offended a lot of posters.
but everyone to there own, im all for encouraging posting

Jacqui
just to clarify my point on BAZ it was his posting of 12th May calling people SCUMBAGS hardly the type of launguage we need on posting.
k
I think we have to re-define "attack" on these postings!! Surely a little gentle ribbing is ok? Or do those in the public eye take themselves sooooooooo seriously - I am sure they don't! A little good humoured tickling is surely not beyond the boundaries? If someone was going to be put off public office or posting on the site because of a couple of frankly affectionate jibes, would they still be there after so long??!!
PS - I think Jacquis posting about Vic is far more subjective, objectionable and personal than mine, but perhaps he will roll with it?

i am rather surprised that nigel has stopped posting because of personal attacks.
he has always been a popular poster, doesn't stoop to party political stuff often.
most of his stuff has been factual about the town he has lived in all of his life.
bern
i cannot see the problem with personal digs at public figures.
i meet people in town that i have poked gentle fun at, and they approach me and have a little dig back.
keith
that posting you mentioned, has been noted by many people who read these forums.
it did not show the individual or party in a very good light.
that will be used by other parties at election time, who can blame them?

Tut Tut !! Jacqui thats a bit strong there re Vic. I mean we dont want to use words like 'totally objectionable'..its a bit worrying. Vic might be a number of things but he's a character anyway. Im trying to get the message out that we are all members and hopefully should be pulling together and have some toleration all round. Ive been saying something similar on the Open Letters page.
Just to say generally...I am looking for harmony where what we write counts, rather than be infamous for the bickering we did on the previous disaster of a forum. Our reputation around the town was mud!
Since the rebirth Ive hopefully improved our reputation around the town. Arguing or indeed nastiness might provide a certain kind of entertainment for some but not at my end when I have to deal with the complaints.
PaulB you are right as usual!!
