Never heard the "York house" mentioned before Ian, on the subject of pubs in Snargate Street there is mention on another thread of the "Arlington" re-opening as a micro pub - no pun intended.

The York House was a good old pub used a lot by the dockers when the Western docks (Granville) had general cargo ships docking there.

Terry, it was run by Peter and Sarah Myson when I used it (1972 onwards) They went on to the Harbour Inn in Folkestone. Followed by Eric ???? and finally Graham Mart.

Good news about The Arlington, use to frequent it during the '80s. When Peter Addis was Landlord, a great pub run by a lovely couple with great ales!
He later took over a pub in Nonington, also I believe I went to school with Graham Mart.
Howard, apologies if I've "highjacked" the thread!
