From Facebook:
"Hi all, myself and my husband Joe are so very close to taking over the White Horse, it is now resting only on some Dover licensing team paperwork and the final okays from Enterprise as to our suitability and finance arrangements for the proposed tenancy, mainly because we have asked about the possibility for a long-term-lease in the future as well as raising questions about buying out of tie on various items, I'm just posting to let you know, even though we haven't got the pub 100% yet, we are looking for staff who either used to work here, or ones who would want to to contact me by email, if we don't get this pub, we are guranteed another one near River, we want you to email us at
enterprisepubs-whitehorsedover@mail.com with your details, this is because when we get the okays from people we'll want to move very quickly towards our opening day! We hope to be able to provide you with a local to be proud of! Charlotte and Joe!"
Been nice knowing you :)

"buying out of tie" could be the difference between making the pub a success or not,

Amazing how many people I know showed an interest in the pub till Enterprise was mentioned. Fingers crossed for Charlotte and Joe.
I think we are all guinea pigs in the middle of an experiment for which they have forgotten to set up a control group!

Great news. May the Horse ride again. I wish all the best to the prospective new owners.

Let us hope, as Andrew says, that the Horse rides again - and soon.
I think the other pub referred to might be the Dublin Man O'War, which is also an Enterprise Inns pub; I didn't know it was vacant, though.

Or perhaps The Railway Bell?

bumped into a man for all pubs phil w-b a bit earlier and he has been told that the "white horse" is opening for business this evening.
doubtless phil will put the forum before himself and brave the elements to get us a report.

I hope they will do well there but it will be very hard many have had go at it before, and look what happen,I think going to the River one would have been better.Where the public could walk to and not drive in bad weather, but if they can last till the summer weeks and it is along summer of good weather then it might just work out for them and I hope it does. Byt back to now the pub needs to be warm when one goes in . Last time they did not do that, you had to stand in there with your coat on.And if doing meals the tables need to be made up and looking the part, again this was not done last time, and last good staff,. and looking the part when dishing up the meals,no jeans etc.To get us out for a meal the place has to be warm which sends out a wecome, the staff at the table must be dressed smart, and talks well, and last one is the main one the food must be hot and good.

That is right we drink soft drinks and money can be made out doing that with less cost to the landlord. But we talking about how the owers can make funds to keep a great old pub going, and that can not be done by selling beer only,it needs alot more then that.to pull the public away from the TV and go out on a cold night, and I did drink for years, and help out behind the bar and run outside bars.Aand I lived there to.

Sounds like Vic wants a restaurant meal #15 not a pub meal, there is a difference between the two.
A pub must be clean, warm and friendly to be inviting with good beer and value for money food where applicable.

Just looked out of the window, it's dark, wet and windy, just the day for staying in. But not for me! Haveing met Howard yesterday I'm going out, camera in hand, or bag or whatever, to cover the miles from home to the White Horse! Yes, yet again I am going to a pub to drink ale for the good of the forum! If all go's well and I get back home again a report will follow, towards tea-time, see you later!
