Certainly, the correct statement is the one highlighted.

Well considering approx. 65% of the electorate vote and approx. 40% of the 65% vote tory, ukip and bnp your statement is anything but correct.

Firstly, 100% of those registered to vote is not 100% of the adult population, but even the 40% of that, that are not Left leaning is a minority.
These are your figures, so I suppose we are to take it that the percentage of Lib-Dems, Independent & Green voters are part of the 60% of the 65%?
And added to that we all 'know', and are often told, that it is the Conservative voter that is most likely to be registered and most likely to vote.
And anyway, the sort that knock on about the BBC bias are but a small wing of the broader Conservative vote.
All in all, I got it about right.

Tom you do love your semantics but you are absolutely wrong.
65% of the electorate vote, the electorate is not the population. Even if half of those that vote are left leaning to say the vast majority of the population is is incorrect.
Keep watching the BBC Tom

And incidentally, I'm not interested whether BBC is biased or not, I just don't want to pay for something I don't want or need.

Personally I'd like to see politics in this country move beyond the simplistic division of 'left wing' and 'right wing', I'm not sure they are much use anymore except to reinforce tribal party politics, which most people are sick of. I increasingly find that my own views are a mix; some could certainly be characterised as very right wing, but others would be judged left of centre by many people. For example I increasingly feel there should be a more direct relationship between how hard you work and what you get paid. Many people work their socks off for relatively little; can a bit of extra responsibility and (sometimes) ability really entitle people to 5, 10, 20 times the pay of those below them?
But I digress. The BBC definitely does have its biases, it is definitely more Guardian than Telegraph. It will only achieve better balance by recruiting outside its usual comfort zones I think.

i have long argued on here that traditional right and left wing politics is outdated and only appeals to the knee jerk voters who automatically vote red or blue each time because they always have.
the problem is that westminster is a closed shop where our betters are totally unaware of the contempt most of us hold them in despite the rise of ukip who have gained support from a variety of quarters.
andrew mentions the distinction between the guardian and the telegraph, personally i don't think they are very far apart at all nowadays with many traditional blues refusing to buy it anymore.

I imagine if the BBC had a right wing bias this thread would never have started? I pay for Sky TV and watch a lot of their news/politics programmes they are right wing in the extreme in my opinion. Off to work now before there are any comments about paying for Sky out of benefits.

#31 spot Martin on
David.
65% who vote, leaves 45% who are sick of politics, which is a majority over the 40% of numpties who put this lot in.

Do any of us have memories of what knowing the Death Penalty was being carried out meant to those around us?
