There is normally a gap between cabinet appointments and junior minister appointments so Charlie won't be too concerned. I find it difficult to believe that the clown Johnson is Foreign Secretary.

In that role it might take him time to normalise relations with Turkey after the limerick he wrote about their President's alleged caprine sexual preferences.

It looks like a 'divide and rule' cabinet scenario developing.
Putting Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary may be a shrewd move on Theresa May's part to put him in a position where he has to work hard to help make Brexit work, if he is up to the job. If he's not..........another adversary removed.
Charlie could well be in line for the post of Immigration Minister being well versed in the problems of migrant camps and the problems they are causing to freight traffic and others within his area.
If this happened perhaps we could rename the Border Control posts, 'Checkpoint Charlie'?

I suspect he'll keep his job as whip, May may see him as loyal but it's a close run thing between loyal and arse kissing, I reckon she'll come to the latter conclusion.

Charlie has been relegated to the back benches probably because of his links with the old regime.

Doubtful as he has good links with the new regime. This is more likely to be about ability or should I say lack of.

Where did you find that snippet Howard I agree he was very much the old regime. He might have got into the picture with Mrs May ,but she know her stuff and I don't think Charlie would fit in with her style

I am surprised Charlie hasn't got even the most junior of junior Ministerial positions. Particularly so given his increased profile of recent days and near photo bombing of PMs past and present!
Two ways of looking at it, I guess, the first being that May is dishing out all sorts of Brexit jobs to keep the Members happy - and in a sense, giving responsibility for those who want it to go and get it. Smart. As such, Boris is a risky appointment but I notice that many key responsibilities were shifted out of the FCO immediately before his appointment, and the civil servants will do all the work, so all he needs to do is stick to his brief......
The second way of looking at it is that this reshuffle gets her settled, and some more key supporters will get positions next time around.

Maybe the " aides" do not always get their own way after all, I assume the majority if not all were civil servants.
