We all network at our own level, Reg. Masters of the Universe are no exception.

I decided to resurrect Reg's thread to highlight the case of Maria Miller, the Culture Secretary, who has admitted embezzling taxpayers money via false mortgage interest claims. Apparently for a Cabinet Minister to be caught with her fingers in the till, only an apology to Parliament is required. A senior civil servant in her department doing a similar thing would lose his job, be stripped of his pension, be prosecuted through the criminal courts and face possible jail and certain ruin. Of course the Tory machine is now closing ranks and there's not a peep out of the others because they are all as bad as each other. And they wonder why they are losing the respect of the public. She should be sacked and be prosecuted like many of the other criminals from the previous parliament who were found out.

read all the reports on this one the thing that stands out is her arrogance in thinking she should not have to apologise.
she's just a common crook at the end of the day.

Cameron backing her doubles the contempt showed to "normal" people who would have lost their jobs and been prosecuted for fraud.

This story beggars belief, not just the way she's behaved but the way it seems Cameron is rallying round her.

Quite right too Howard this is scandalous.
Lets get this right, she hasn't fiddled her expenses she's stolen from the taxpayer.

Absolutely David.
£45,000 fiddfled, down to £4,000 to pay back and still argues the toss. It's morally and financially wrong. Has she got a hold on (some) people ?

Tory party now getting itself into the same pit of sleaze that made it unelectable in 1997 with most of the great and good rallying round to defend the indefensible. How history repeats itself.
