Meanwhile, dear Annalena receives a pat on the head from Harvard for aiding US foreign policy objectives... sorry, that should read 'for linguistics'.
(I am assured that no plagiarism or 360° turns were used in the manufacturing of this degree.)

Revealing commentary from a Polish lorry drivers' FB page, reacting to being made to queue to give priority to tourist traffic. FB will translate for you.

The issue is that the some Italians think the price has become too high, not that they "can´t afford it". There is a world of difference.
The Mail and The Express, especially, like to over dramatise.
A good example was a few days ago when both these websites were saying residents in my area were "confined to their houses" due to poor air quality. Thee truth was that vulnerable citizens were "advised to limit outdoor activity"...not the same thing at all, but of course the former sounds so much more serious....

You have to be rather gullible to take anything the Mail or Express without a large pinch of salt.

Meanwhile, Polish farmers want to know what the Deputy Agriculture Minister did with their money...
The video (easy enough to find - but probably not in Guardian online) needs to be in a 'how to speak to politicians' manual.
No salt required (unless you take it with your popcorn).

A large pinch of salt is a good example! Below, The Mail is trying to make out that the recommended daily level of salt for the UK is 2.5x higher than the recommended limit in the US. Also that a slice of Domino´s pizza in the UK has 2.5x the salt of one in the US!!
The Mail should have a government warning at the top of each page. "FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY"

The poor old Mail doesn´t understand the difference between salt, which is used on UK nutritional labels, and sodium, which is used in the US.
Hence they published an inaccurate article, unwittingly rather than maliciously for a change

Good Lord, it gets worse, if that were credibly possible. The article fails to mention, of course, that the EU plan is a direct equivalent of the USA's ESTA scheme. It was planned by the EU when we were still members and with our full participation in the project.
Another Brexit benefit being couched as an EU evil.

You’re right Ray, aside of the queuing, they don’t seem to like us either.

Indeed. And all so utterly pointless and counter productive.

Nah. Pointless. Bring back liberty of motion! (I'm sure I'll be pilloried if I say 'freedom of movement').
And by the way, the word is clearance. Note correct spelling and lose 3 house points.

'Leonhard Birnbaum, chief executive of German energy provider Eon, said Berlin should accept differences of opinion as he signalled his desire for a compromise with France to break a deadlock over energy reforms.'
'Germany has been a net importer of French electricity since shutting down its own nuclear plants, which last month prompted the French energy minister Agnès Pannier-Runacher to accuse Berlin of hypocrisy.'
