I read the other day that the march had been cancelled by the French authorities but I notice that with a smaller gathering than we had they used tear gas to disperse people.

Things have taken another turn as Clair has deleted me from her Facebook friend's list, I am mortified and cannot work out a reason. Is it that she has no use for the forum now that Lord Peter is sure to be the next candidate or just me being critical
of her party's involvement in the events of 9 days ago?

Howard, it's even worse than that.On Saturday I saw Clair in Deal high street with her street stall.I said hello Clair, she blanked me.Maggie Cosin who is supposed to the grumpy one , said hello. I have always said hello to Clair also her Mum and Dad without any problems. I particularly enjoy speaking to her Dad, who I have known for years and is a good man.Rather sad.
At the count on May7th, she made a speech after her defeat in which she said she had every faith in Ed Miliband and that he would be victorous in his fight against the Tories. Perhaps she is missing Ed.?

The party seems to be split asunder Peter. I saw the photo on Saturday, recognized Gwyn plus Clair's mum and dad. Not too up on Deal but the heir apparent and the Machiavellian Mr eddy were conspicuous by their absence. Clair now promotes her employer on her Facebook page extolling all their great successes of many years ago to which we all benefited and I asked what they had achieved for their members in later years - could be the reason I am outed.

For months Cllr Eddy has'nt featured in Clair's campaigning which is unusual for a Labour Group Leader at DDC.
Peter W has links with Thanet and Folkestone and has'nt featured much in Clair's campaign. Clair can be prickly with critics which is not a good trait for someone, who is trying to gather votes but I do not know what pressure Clair is under..
It is interesting to note that Sarah Gleave who is the Chair of the local Green Party is one of the main players of Dover,Stand Up To Racism as well as Pam Brivio,Simon Bannister,Susan Hill,Miriam Wood. All Labour Councillors.
Incidently Ms Gleave who was the Green party Campaign Manager/Agent for Jolyon Trimmington the Green Party Candidate in the General Election and therefore Clair's opponent 9 months ago..Ms Gleave is now working with the above Councillors.
Vote Labour Get Green or Ms Gleave has been converted or she is getting value for her Corbyn £3.

The world and his wife/partner joined Labour for the leadership election, tories couldn't believe their luck many signing up 5 times over to make sure Mr Corbyn won. plenty of the lunatic fringe saw a chance to take control of a major party for 3 quid a throw. We are now seeing the results, as for Clair she has only herself to blame for putting pressure on herself. some of it through inexperience then of course bad advice from her colleagues.
Just off the top of my head her backing of a campaign as "Dover UK capital of the cruel export trade" unpleasant slurs against the Person's Port intimating that the £10 donations were not used wisely and some daft wimmins causes. Her demands for equality changed when pension ages were equalised.

The one's to watch are Momentum. The party within the party practicing the same 'entryism' as Militant of old.
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/03570/National_Committee_3570014a.pdf
One key passage entitled "Consider for membership people rejected by Labour" states:
"It has been pointed out that the Labour Party may unreasonably proscribe organisations or exclude individuals from membership. For this reason, it is proposed that the National Committee may decide by resolution to admit to membership any person whom it feels has been unfairly excluded from membership of the Labour Party, and shall be the final arbiter in any dispute about whether an organisation is 'opposed to the Labour Party' as a determinant of membership of Momentum."
Still at £10 a pop it could cause more disruption within the Labour Party than the £3s I invested in 'Corbyn'!
"We are living in very strange times, and they are likely to get a lot stranger before we bottom out"

Glad to see you got a return on your investment Captain, unfortunately so did many others. The people's party are back in the late 70s early 80s again and as before the older members think they are being "right on" and "connecting with the nations yoof" thus making them unelectable. I can still remember vividly the wonderful speech from a true man of the people Neil Kinnock at conference basically telling the ones "indulging their hobby" to f*** off and leave the party to those who want to do something good for working people. We all know that due to others he failed to win power at the next election but it was then made easy for Tony Blair to win the next 3 and keep the nasty party out of office.

Our DDC Labour Group Leader Cllr Mike Eddy sent a letter before last monday, to the Mercury. Which I read last night. It's in this week's Mercury.
Cllr Eddy stated that Ms Diane Abbott MP,Labour Shadow Cabinet Minister was invited by Kent Anti-Racism Network and that she was picked up and returned to Folkestone Station by a Former colleague of his,on Saturday 30/1/16.
Kent Anti Racism Network is run by Bunny La Roache of Thanet.. Bunny is a member of the Socialist Workers Party.
I am interested know who the Former colleague is and how recent they became a former colleague? It is still unusual for a local Labour party to deny that they invited a Senior Shadow Cabinet Minister..On a lighter note,I wonder if Ms Abbott has grounds for discrimination, possibly involving her gender..

Karn are just a cover group for anarchists that have taken in some well meaning but gullible people. Had some abuse from them but I don't reply to people without names. Dover stand up to racism are little better

I don't know what role ms la roche has at karn but seems to rabble rouse for many causes allegedly upsetting her own fans by suggesting to an elderly ukip supporter to hurry up and die in front of many people.

Maybe this thread this thread needs updating? the local party now seems to echo the national one, Greens and Lib Dems the same. no point in wondering where the local and national UKIP party stands. let's not kid ourselves immigration is probably the biggest issue in the minds of voters for June 23 and only the conservatives are in two minds.

Labour individuals seem to have been very quiet and who knows how MPs or individual party members/followers will vote at the ballot box.
That goes for all politicians whatever party they belong to or what they say in public, after all where they put their cross is completely secret.

I think what you are saying is what individuals do at the ballot box Jan, I am referring to party lines which just tell members how to put the case for remaining or leaving. It just seems strange that a party that has always told its members what to do is the only one that hasn't on this issue.
Just to confuse things I have been watching an interview on Newsnight a little while ago where they interviewed the Labour Mayoral candidate for London. true old labour, son of a bus conductor, brought up on a council estate, worked hard to better himself and clearly understood the worries of working people. Then admits that he is pro the EU since Corbyn changed his coat.

I don't think it's a big issue for the Labour party, they have for some years now been consistently pro EU. There will be the odd exception of course with some Labour MP's being in the out camp but they are obviously more joined up on this than the Tories.

Labour tend to be more ruthless than the Tories with MPs and activists who appear to be off-message. That might be why they seem more joined-up.

My point was that is does not really matter what anyone including politicians say when in public, in the voting booth they can follow their gut feeling even if it is against party policy, that includes the PM and Charlie Elphicke.

Indeed but why would anyone persuade others to believe in one thing and then vote otherwise in private? No sane person would do that.......except perhaps a politician!

Corbyn up until recently had spent his political career as a genuine Eurosceptic but now wants us to stay in, the top Labour man in the "Remain" camp Alan Johnson is urging us all to vote remain even if it goes against workplace rights. A few weeks back he was saying that it was because of being in the EU that workers had the rights they enjoy today. Local Labour parties are holding meetings to discuss tactics designed to convince the public to stay in rather than debate what is best for their voters. As for the Tories a recent poll showed overwhelming backing from their local associations to leave but the PM tells MP's to take no notice of them.
Whatever happened to democracy?
