Cor I go out to work and look what happens, so lets go over some of these points, and even add a few extra.
lets go on the stuff so far;
Ok even our Ken agrees he defected to the conservatives, now that in itself would give me grave concerns on his credibility, and what party he would join next no real socialist could even consider joining a right wing party.
Thank fully I'm not in that party.
But you did ask for the comments so you now have them.
Although Labour is a broad church I'm not so sure the local party would be happy to have you back
not just because you stood against the official Labour candidate.
But also you made no secret you disliked the labour candidate.
I'm sure that Gwyn Prosser will recall your words on this forum after you defected where you will recall Paul b was going down the deletion of the post route, where you stated Gwyn Prosser is not fit to represent this town.
Those words I'm sure havn't been forgotten.
Let me just clear up one very small thing you said Ken,, I have NEVER been against the Town council as a body, but more against some of those elected on to it.
I believe in decisions being made as local as possible and still do.
It was also interesting to note all those years ago to get threatening texts from you that you were going to go to the national media which of course all came to nothing as expected.
I left the party 7 years ago(or they left me)
and had no intention of returning, until the local party decided to stand an unknown candidate from 3 miles way, which this ward has suffered to many missing cllrs over the years.
And after a great deal of soul searching and lots of locals urging me to stand, I contacted members in the labour party to say i'v got a local activist who lives in the ward that as a community we could support, the party decided they would go ahead and parachute this lady in.
After talking further to my wife, and los of locals/organisations I decided to stand really to give labour a bloody nose not expecting to win, but the more I spoke to people the more I could see the ground swell. ending up with the result.
But this is about you Ken, thankfully its the Labour Party that has to make that decision, I would be really surprized if you were allowed back in but 'm a long time gone from the party so who knows

I've read some drivel on this forum but by God you surpass it every time Keith, are you sure you've just got in from work and not the pub?
But as you say its not about you its about Ken. Who'd a thought it!

Welcome to local politics, egos are far more important than getting things done.

Nobody is forced to read anything here, should they see the Forum as mainly drivel then don't read it.

I admit that I would be disappointed if I were not allowed to rejoin The Labour Party, but indications are that I will be welcome, however whatever the outcome I will still campaign on the parties behalf as I strongly believe in what the party stands for.

Ken we still have that cup of tea to have, my views were as you asked, I'm no longer a member of that party so maybe they will welcome you back.
I'v always said it as it is, and always will you know as I told you over a tea I wouldn't have gone over to the tories and we agreed to disagree at that time.
That didn't stop us having tea and bickies after that time
I have friends in all parties and no party and it doesn't change
you asked for comments which in my usual open way I gave, they may not be the ones you wanted, but its no good going in with tinted glasses, there are some already saying you shouldn't re join so really its up to them.
of course after 7 years out I have no influence in the party so it will be a local decision.
Anyway must be time for tea and bickies again

Welcome to the Ke v Ke page, which is a shining example of how
some political people like to blunder on and have the last word.

Just because you don't take an interest in politics doesn't mean that politics won't take an interest in you. PERICLES.

Jan, not at all
Ken started by asking for comments, a number of posters made comments including yourself, Ken then came back with other comments and I answered them.
You appear to be of the opinion that you only want to hear from non political persons?

Absolutely love to hear from political persona - try Rockall (or Golspie) and we'll keep an ear out!

I wonder how strict this 5 year business is? Peter Wallace swept to power in Maxton, Elms Vale and Priory 4 years ago, I don't know when he actually joined the party but he did stand for the Lib Dems in Shepway previously, no idea of dates as the SDC website only has results going back to 2015 unlike DDC which has an archive of 12 years.

I have approached Peter some time ago on this, as I got told the same, sometimes it can be people having a dig so phoning direct best way so he told me yes he came down from Sunderland to Folkestone and although in his opinion Labour wasn't strong in Folkestone he joined the more active lib dems.
He told me he then joined Labour thus where he is today.
Its how you view people who quickly jump parties

I raised the post to receive comment expecting Keith to be the main commentator, which he was. All comments were gratefully received and the relationship I have with Keith has not changed. I believe the post has reached it's natural conclusion with the posts 35 and 36 and my inability to respond for a few days as I shall be in Monaco with a few bits and pieces, something to do with a car race being held there this weekend.

I don't think it;' reached conclusion talking with some Labour followers and activists who reminded me of when Ken was in St Radigunds with the Conservative party promoting Ian Duncan Smith.
Even I had forgotten that lol
seems some labour activists have long memories.
Thankfully I'm out of all of that and going alone it's a lot easier

"seems some labour activists have long memories." I could also add and never let things go if they think they can repeatedly stir the pot.
It is the person who matters far more than the party they represent be it national or local politics.
