So, traditional Tory voters, watch out - vote UKIP and get Labour.

There was no vote last time, 7 Conservative candidates for 8 vacancies so was uncontested.
The party that Keith is always promoting but won't vote for (or any other parties) couldn't be bothered to put up any candidates.

Ray
Im a great believer in getting candidates(that are suitable) for all wards/elections
so if labour has seen the error of there ways previously then good on them
what is clear,,,, tories LOST and didn't even come second!!!!
And UKIP just a protest
should have won if they were that popular
hardly a labour area
but now its all to play for
labour winning in tory heartlands

So you did not win because you are a new party and not that well off!! scraping the barrel there Keith. A one policy party and a disappointment in Thanet with those UKIP elected a short time ago is probably nearer the mark.

Martin & keith s
You need to face the facts, you do not represent the British public thinking
Go into any working mans club /pub ,and spout your policy's on the EU and mass immigration
Your party is in decline on membership, your surviving on union cash.
Lots of good Labour people have left your party in disgust at your record in government
Your problem is not ukip it's your inability to represent the views of your traditional core voters.
This will one day end the Labour party as it is today

Nobody on this forum represents "British public thinking", purely our own opinions.
My opinion is that UKIP are still getting the protest vote from those fed up with the other main parties, what will happen at the next General Election nobody knows. As Harold Wilson once said "a week is a long time in politics".

Keith you have no idea what my views are on Immigration or the EU, and I am pretty sure I have never made the claim I represent the "British public thinking" I only commented on this thread when you used how many did not vote Labour to strengthen your argument when the reverse was obvious, I usually steer clear of your rantings.

ukip have certainly upset the applecart here, people give reasons not to vote ukip but do not give reasons why they should vote for any other party.

Takes me back to the Great Pauline Leith who was a Town District and Kent County Councillor and my next door neighbour, she got me involved in politics and I stood for Labour in 1979 at Town and District she was a dedicated Cllr and a hard worker. In Sandwich you were either a Tory selected Cllr or independent non selected Tory so a win here is indeed a shock but just goes to show the impossible can happen. You only need 1 vote more than the rest to win.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
