That is definitely the problem, from now on anyone accused will carry the stigma for the rest of their lives even if no charges are forthcoming. They suffer and so do their families because of some private vendetta or the perception that they might possibly be proceeding up the (in these cases) political ladder.
He said, she said gossip with no or little affect on the accuser because of they are
not named.
As an example Charlie or any other MP are unlikely to become ministers because of these accusations even if they are proved to be completely innocent.

Just in from the Telegraph.
Theresa May is under pressure to disclose what two of her closest allies knew about allegations made against senior Conservatives, amid claims they “sat on” accusations about MPs’ conduct.
The Telegraph understands that concerns about the behaviour of Sir Michael Fallon, the former defence secretary, were raised repeatedly in the whips’ office when Gavin Barwell, who is now the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, was “number three” there.
Separately, a serious allegation about the Tory MP Charlie Elphicke, then a whip himself, was made to the office in the same period, before Gavin Williamson – whom the Prime Minister appointed on Thursday as Sir Michael’s successor – became chief whip.
In taking charge of the whips’ office in July last year, Mr Williamson would have been briefed on any major concerns about Tory MPs, insiders said.
The woman who complained about Mr Elphicke last year is understood to have asked the party not to call in the police. However, Julian Smith, the new Chief Whip, referred Mr Elphicke to police on Friday night and suspended him following a fresh allegation.
Last night, one senior Conservative said the former whips would face “real difficulties if it emerged that there were a string of people raising concerns and they were not taking it forward”. Another source said it appeared the whips might have “sat on” allegations.
Anna Soubry, the former defence minister, said: “It’s difficult to believe that the whips’ office didn’t know much of the detail of these various allegations and they probably know more. I am astonished that Gavin Williamson was appointed as Defence Secretary.”
Anna Soubry, the former defence minister, said it is "difficult" to believe the whips’ office didn’t know much of the detail of the various allegations.

#42 One of the more worrying things about the Damian Green tale is that it relates to events of nine years ago when police made a raid of dubious legality to put it mildly.
It would appear that Plod has chosen to leak the information now which seems to me appalling. I expect them to investigate possible law breaking and put wrongdoers up before the courts.
Whatever your views of the current scandal, when the police can march into MPs offices and then leak this sort of stuff, we have a problem.
They are meant to be impartial umpires rather than players in the game. They have 'previous' for this.

Hell hath no fury like a policeman made to quit. I suspect all this is a ploy or even plot to try and bring down the Government and or May, there is a real danger that could happen if this media persecution continues.
So they found porn who cares, unless there were children involved and that does not seem to be the case, maybe I missed something really important in that article by skim reading.

Interestingly Bob Quick's statement to the Leveson Inquiry, including the the arrest of Green, makes no mention of any questionable material on any computer

The following year Quick was forced to resign

The decision not to prosecute Green was made by one Kier Starmer! Wonder what ever happened to him?

Extraordinary. Now the de facto Deputy PM accuses a former counter terrorism police chief of attempting to frame him.
This game is getting serious. The gloves are off. Surely one of the two will end up facing public disgrace and possible prosecution?

This MP makes a very good point about behaviour being a generational issue.

Courtesy of the Telegraph, Ms Leadsom thought a very mild comment from Michael Fallon bad enough to grass him up but ignores a rape allegation.
Andrea Leadsom was told that police were conducting a criminal investigation after a senior Conservative was reported for an allegation of rape but did not take any further action.
A female Tory activist has revealed she reported the allegation of rape and concerns about the "toxic" culture in Westminster to David Natzler, the Clerk of the House of Commons.
She was led to believe that her concerns about the alleged attack would be passed to Ms Leadsom, the then Leader of the Commons, and Gavin Williamson, the then Chief Whip.
However she was left feeling "worthless" after neither Ms Leadsom or Mr Williamson contacted her to discuss her allegations and there was no follow up from Parliamentary authorities.
Ms Leadsom initially denied that the rape allegation had been formally "referred" to her. However The Telegraph can disclose that she was informed by Mr Natzler that police were examining "criminal allegations".

I doubt many of these accusations are completely justified regardless of the party or even any other work place.
This whole unhappy event is now simply a chance to make trouble for those who they either do not like or might hinder their perceived journey nearer to the top of their particular tree. As an example I seem to remember Ms Leadsom wanted to become PM at one point.

Remarkable times. The Governmnt is in such a state of disarray that Priti Patel receives only a mild rebuke for pitching up in Israel, off the grid, and holds 12 meetings in 12 days in what must have been a thrilling holiday! In normal times this would have been a huge issue, but in today's bonkers world, it is a mere rounding error!
