I have just returned from Fort Whitfield where DDC councillors have voted to reduce size of council from 42 to 32!
Correct. I too am finding this hard to believe.

Wow! Sounds like these brave decision makers should be asked to take a vote on the House of Lords too!

Sounds like (for once) we're both singing from the same hymn sheet!
Dullness in matters of government is a good sign, and not a bad one - in particular, dullness in parliamentary government is a test of its excellence, an indication of its success. Walter Bagehot
Let's hope we are looking to a 'dull' council delivering good services at a reasonable price to council tax payers offering 'value for money', and leaving Grands Projets to those who understand and can deliver them.
Local councils have a history of diving into mad vanity projects which at best 'break even' and where the only people who get anything out of them are the inevitable 'consultants' with their glossy brochures and PowerPoint presentations.
I'm only surprised the silly buggers have not thought about investing all our reserves in BitCoin.

I'm unable to think of an offensive joke so I'm afraid I cannot edit them out at the rate that you are including them (then repenting), oh Captain, my Captain.

The article says that the Priory part of the ward will join with Brian's one but then says "Clarendon and Westbury communities " will be split.

Seems my ward is joining with Maxton and Elms Vale, that will make one enormous ward stretching from Barton Road to Elms Vale.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

No chance. Far too erudite. (No, that is not a 'sort of glue' Howard)

Bit of useless information, Canterbury has 39 city councillors for a population of 55,000 whilst DDC has 45 councillors for a population of 113,000 unless I have read it wrong.
