Japan are there over Senegal on fair play rules, but the way they did it against Poland was contrary to that spirit. In any case, I think it'll be moules-frites rather than sushi for supper tonight.

Incredible second half and Belgium surprised me with their team spirit. Much as I felt for Japan let's not forget that if they had went on to be champions we could have ended up building railways in the Far East with no remuneration.

Difficult to call this afternoon's game: I think it'll be tight, with Sweden chasing the ball and countering. But I predict a Scandinoir for them and, with mastercraftsmen like Shaqiri making the difference, the cuckoo will be on time for the Swiss.

I did not think England would get pass the first round, now they have it does look good winning the next round tonight, I think that is as far as they can get ,but again I was wrong last time hope I am wrong again tonight.

I've a bad feeling about tonight's game, those two centre backs for Colombia look real class and Falcao is playing out of his skin up front. Looking forward to Belgium playing Brazil and expect the former to dump the latter out of the tournament which is what they deserve given the antics of Neymar.

Yet another cracking match with high drama at the end, can England and Colombia serve up a similar feast?

Having hit a couple of shots wide I'm loath to call this evening's game. All the knock-out matches have been tight affairs and I doubt this will be any different. There'll be much Colombian traffic for sure, and England won't Kane the opposition, but I think they'll do it.

Th Colombian ambassador complained about a tabloid headline that read "Go Kane", Lord Sugar snorted at the rebuke.

Gut wrenching ending hopefully Gareth will emulate Alf Ramsey when in the same situation 52 years ago and tell the players that they have won it once and now have to win it again.

Their only corner and our marking was Sunday league standard.

The manager enlisted a psychologist to work out who would be best in a penalty shoot out, however I will be watching it from behind the sofa.

Wonderful result and deserved overall, our manager comes across as a shrewd bloke, apologies to my neighbours for my screaming at the end.

The only negative thing about this World Cup has been the refereeing in my opinion. Any set piece near to goal involves a wrestling match/rugby scrum and the officials seem to be asking the protagonists politely to stop instead of waving a yellow card about. Similarly any time a contentious decision is made a multitude of players surround the referee and harangue him and very few yellow cards come out for this behaviour. It can be up to four minutes after a penalty or free kick in a dangerous position is awarded before the kick is taken.

I admit I know sweet F A about the rules of football but going by the numerous clips and reports I have seen it seems the referees have been far to lenient.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.
