Another major lapse in hygiene, safety, and tourist impact by the restaurant at the end of Deal Pier.
For the last couple of months there has been a disused freezer, rusty trolleys and general rubbish just dumped outside of the restaurant.
How long before someone injures themselves and sues Dover District Council?
What on earth do tourists and visitors to the pier think?
I've contacted DDC so let's see what happens. If anyone would
like to put a bit of extra pressure on please be my guest.

Disgraceful state, I used the Cafe soon after it re-opened and it would be an understatement to say I was disappointed.
No problems with our pier, not since DHB demolished it to replace with freight sheds.

Seems all is not as rosy in Deal as Jack Heart says. (He'll probably blame Dover for it).

Casting my mind back the franchisee of the Sea Sports centre on our seafront left and then took over the new cafe on Deal pier.
I don't know if is still them but they left a lot of unhappy customers in Dover. one of our members at the time said he ordered an English breakfast and it took nearly an hour to arrive.

Ah, the power of Dover Forum or perhaps the two councillors who got back to me after my emails direct to them: Trevor Barlett and Bob Frost - Thank You. (Shame on the others who didn't even bother to reply).
Anyway fantastic news for Deal, Should make the front page of the Mercury - The Fridges and freezers have now gone plus the dumster is back in the storage area!!

Looks like Peter found some half decent councilors! (one wonders if any of them read this forum?

I note that Jasin's 'Restaurant' (i.e. the cafe at the end of Deal pier) is listed No 78 of 79 Deal places to eat in Deal!
https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g503900-d2086077-Reviews-Jasin_s_Restaurant-Deal_Kent_England.html
At least they are not as bad as the Telegraph Chippie which has 79th place!

I wonder if there is any connection between the two establishments?

Front page no less!
Meanwhile here's the last two reviews from Trip Advisor!
Not good! (Reviewed 1 week ago)
Visited here recently and was shocked at just how bad it was. Was met at the counter by half a dozen young staff all doing not a lot. When I asked if any of the cakes were gluten free no-one seemed to know so ordered a couple of drinks whilst the staff ran around trying to find out. A young girl came to our table and said that they thought that the lemon meringue pie and the carrot cake was ok. I ordered the lemon meringue pie and my husband had a strawberry cheesecake. What can I say, both cakes were well past their best and soggy! When my husband mentioned this when paying the bill he was told that they had only just been put out. Sorry but the only place these cakes should have been put out is for the bin!! As a cafe owner myself this is certainly not what I would expect to happen. Appalling!
No excuse (Reviewed 2 weeks ago)
We ordered our lunch of 2 sandwiches, one toasted and 2 salads. An hour later we were still waiting. I told them that in 10 minutes we would have to leave so I could get some food for my children who were by now starving. My friend rounded the kitchen corner as the chef was overheard moaning about us rushing him. The place was half full. My salad was not worth the wait or the money. Half a avocado, one tomato, half a packet of halloumi and a few slices of cucumber. On a huge bed of iceberg! That for nearly £10. The toasted sandwich looked like it had been stuck in the microwave. The cheese had completely melted but bread was white.

Surely DDC must be aware of Trip Advisor reviews and acted accordingly. Let someone else take over the franchise.

I thought this would have been inspected by DDC on a regular basis but apparently not. Would also have thought Deal Town Council would have raised the issue with them.

Of course the Cllr raising the issues is a triple hatted Cllr. KCC , DDC, DTC.
I believe a large sum for Deal Pier renovations was agreed with the existing years budget. Planned maintenance.
The other matter relating to the Councils tenant is well known & not one that has been ignored.

Paul, as you know from the CC'd e-mails, on this matter I seconded myself to the submarine service for the past year or so operating mostly undetected below the surface and firing the occasional directional torpedo. Hopefully I have been hitting the correct targets? From a conservation I had on Wednesday I'm extremely optimistic - even like the idea of the 'prison hulks'!

Are we to infer from post 19 that you also were in need of renovation?
