Smart lad (or ladette) wanted:-

No mention of 'ability to swim' in job specification so perhaps pier in not too bad a state after all?
I've been told Deal Pier 'starred' in recent TV programme. Plot involved woman being taken out for meal at end of pier. Wakes up next morning and thinks she might have been poisoned. I asked script writer where they get their ideas from. Trip Advisor apparently.

#22 Bob Frost as a Deal Councillor you need to get your facts correct.
When dissing a local eatery
After all everyone is entitled to a fair assessment.
The Television Programme is called LIAR !!
The woman involved, one of the main characters was possibly DRUGGED and then raped.
This is the main core of the plot and nothing to do with the local eatery at the end of the Pier.

FFS someone clearly has had a sense of humour bypass, clearly Bob's comments were intended humorously and were in no sense a critique of or plot précis of the TV programme you mention.

#24 Humorous comments? I think Spooner would have described it as shining wit.

Whilst one may or may not find it humorous; humour like beauty is perceived in the eye (ear?) of the beholder.
It was clearly, to my perception, intended as a humorous/satirical comment.

Well done Bob. The marathon to achieve this result can only bring dividends to local tourism & catering.

This man is a 'stranger to the truth'. I have rarely read such a pack of lies in our local paper! DO read the comments.
I feel a 'reply' coming on!

Read that earlier and I thought that the fact nobody seemed to have a good word about it was good enough to let someone else have a go. It was a nightmare when he ran the catering at the Seasports Centre.

I have read them & both you & I know a different story.
One wonders whether DDC will respond or say job finally done .Property recovered.

Paul,
Unfortunately DDC as a body have chosen not to respond.
I can assure you I will not be letting this (or Jasin!) lie.
Need to talk to Jimmy Stewart's 6' 3" rabbit.
Have no intention of being, as individual, on end of solicitor's letter claiming 'libel' however spurious.

Reading Deal Watch etc, Facebook posts, the overwhelming comments are not in his favour & point out personal experiences & Trip Advisor entry for what it is worth.

"We were in the process of going to court but we’ve decided to pull out of the lease." People would not normally pull out if they think they will win in court.
Reading the article I get the impression someone is being economical with the truth and simply making excuses.

FACT it was DDC who had instigated a court case against the tenant for non payment of monies amounting to tens of thousands of pounds. The case was scheduled for 13 December at Canterbury. Rather than go to court, after months of prevaricating, and no doubt mindful of costs being awarded against the tenant, last Friday the tenant threw in the towel, agreed to surrender the lease and made a full financial settlement.

Now here's a funny thing. While DDC now have vacant possession of the restaurant at the end of the pier, rumour has it that the good Mr Jasin Kaplan has bought the Sportsman Pub in Sholden at auction (guide price £350,000!)
