Last night at around 9.30pm i looked out of my window to be faced with three bright orange lights that seemed to have flames around them going accross the sky then slowly dissapear! does anyone know what they are or from.

Melissa. There are essentially two possibilities: Either it was an aeroplane, with the head-lights and the two front wing-lights on, as planes always fly with lights on at night-time, and often have some flashing red lights too, or it was a supernatural appearance, which are also quite common. The latter are often considerd as extra-terrestrial from characters of another planet, however they might well be angelical, as characters from other planets don't exist. Still, it might be that other people saw it too, and noted it, if it was something extraordinary.
Well Melissa, it won't have been an aeroplane, they don't have orange lights.
What you saw may well have been nothing more sinister than small meteorites entering earths atmosphere, and burning up on entry. These are common occurences and nothing to be afraid of.

True, Sid! However, if there were three of them and not one, then this is very uncommon!
there were three in total! must admit quite scary and also had many neighbours outside wondering what was going on as well.
How so Alexander? Space dust/rubble is constantly showering down on our planet's protective coating. It doesn't necessarily come one piece at a time.

Sid, I have never seen three such particles coming together. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but Melissa would have to describe more precisely how they travelled through the sky. Melissa, if these lights had one straight trajectory, and only lasted several seconds, then they might be a very uncommon "falling star" appearence, such as Sid describes, of meteorite origin. But if they changed their direction to left or right, or went upwards at some point, then they most certainly were not star dust!
We have lots of military installations around Dover/Folkestone and it is likely that the three orange lights were flares of some sort. I have seen similar lights when driving home late at night from work. They often do manoeuvres (is that how you spell it?) at night.
There you go Melissa, see what you've started? Now you've got AD thinking the Holy Trinity paid us a visit. We don't have this trouble with your hubby you know!"

No, Diana, that is not how you spell it, most definitely!
Diana, I think you'll find it is.
Go on then, AD, you spell it, clever clogs!!
scary enough i just googled bright orange lights in the sky at night and found pictures of what i saw last nite and worrying the experts say its ufos!
the light came from the left of the sky to the right , they went both up and down , two stayed together and the third was larger and much brighter then they dissapeared after going up in the sky!

Diana, I'll consult a dictionary some time this afternoon and will let you know. PaulB hasn't got a spell check on the site, so it's not that simple!
So there you go, Melissa, Sid isn't always right! What do you say to that, Sid?
Or it could have been fairies?????

Diana, fairies have never been mentioned as being responsible for such manifestations! You are conjecturing a new theory there, but you must then also take all the responsibility such a new theory will bring with it. Can you prove it?
just been on uk ufos sightings and is madness lots of people saw same as me up north different times during the night.
It is well known and frequently documented that fairies live at the bottom of the garden. If Melissa saw the lights over the bottom of her garden I postulate that this proves conclusively that it WAS fairies!
