In the post yesterday I got my BT bill for £132.59... By the time I got back from Canterbury BT had restricted my service so that no outgoing calls could be made; when I finally got through to their alleged customer services to demand why, I was told that it was because of non-payment of my bill! I reckon that even by the atrocious levels of customer care in the modern world we live in, BT have plumbed a new depth in how to mismanage.
Needless to say, a letter is on its way...................

they drive me up the wall, just cannot be bothered to change from them.
did the once a few years back, to post office homephone, what a disaster area.
the first bill was wrong by 40 quid, they said that they did not have a credit note system, would i pay they would then deduct from the next bill.
this went on for a further 3 months, despite various e mails from me, the ones from them all admitted they were wrong.
i changed back to BT and they promised to keep my number, a week later they changed this, after much to and fro stuff i told everyone my new number, you guessed it, a week later they changed it back to my original number without telling me.

I had two BT lines once, a phone and a fax. I always used to pay them both with the same cheque. On day I found my phone was cut off. When I queried it I was told that I hadn't paid my £58 phone bill. As I had that day got my bank statement I was able to tell them when my cheque cleared. The lady got quite cross with me and came very close to calling me a liar.
At the end of a quite accrimonious conversation I asked her to check my other line. "That's alright" she said "In fact you're £58 in credit on that one"
When the penny finally dropped my line was restored in half an hour.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
I've always had excellent service from BT and wouldn't drema of switching, particularly to a non-UK competitor.

i had a similar experience with a cable company, sent in a cheque to cover two invoices, clearly wrote reference numbers on back of cheque.
they could not grasp the fact that the 100 quid i had underpaid was balanced by the 100 quid i was in credit with on the other account.

That's terrible Andy!
I moved from BT to Sky about a year ago for my phone and broadband and have had no problems at all, very fast connection never interrupted, bills are the same each month as long as I don't make any 0870 calls (0845 are included in the package), easy to manage my account online. The broadband installation was so easy and the CD Rom tutorial was amazing.
The main reason for my move was price, as the BT service was ok but Sky offered much better value at the time, don't know what it's like now but I'm so happy I wouldn't want to swap back now.
Hi all,
I moved from BT to Virgin Media, for many reasons really. Mainly as Virgin Media can provide a much better speed, i can have up to 50mb with Virgin Media, and with BT i struggled to get 3mb.
Virgin Media packages are very good too, especially if you want phone / television with them too..
BT not for me, as others have said, there are many other suppliers around, worth shopping around.
Matt
Andy, i use to share the canterbury to dover bus with many bt workers and must admit they have no concern of chatting and publicly naming customers ranting their own thoughts on how they get their own back of these said people. After hearing them workers im glad im a virgin media customer.
