Rather significant that after a long gap three people post support for the application on the same day and at least one has been totally against it up until now.

I thought that was all a bit odd

I have been following this since the first planning application went in and the connection with the sudden three supportive posts is "Triangles".
Ms Terry has been the main instigator of raising the community centre from the ashes of economic collapse and ran many fundraising events for new flooring and all sorts. The developer struck up a relationship(platonic I must add) and the community centre was used for a public meeting to further his objectives.
I think Ms Terry was under the impression that there would be some sort of public housing with 4/5 bedrooms to accommodate large families locally and lost interest even though the developer was offering sweeteners.
Suddenly 3 days ago she and her partner plus the treasurer of Triangles had a Damascus moment all at the same time.

Amazing what can happen when a developer shows an interest in a community project.
I remember many years ago a developer was going to "help" with Tilmanstone cricket club improvements if his plans for a long derelict building got the village's support.

The original application offered money to the community centre plus a few bits and pieces for the community at large, the second application took it all away.
The three individuals now supporting the application didn't do first time around!!

The developer has hit back at comments from a town councillor which I must say seemed over the top and not researched at all. Noise and general inconvenience during construction is not a valid reason to reject a planning application.

Links from planning never work Reg but if you go on the site and tap in 17/01523 everything is there. Incidentally there is another supporting post from Sarah Walker - a neighbour but looking at her FB profile she is with Walker construction and lives in Hythe.

Two very telling lines in the developer's response letter
"It is massive investment in a run down and depressed area . It will enhance the whole area, creating homes and employment, along with a large boost in income to the local authority."
It isn't a run down and depressed area it might be that a lot of lower income families live in the area but Coombe valley rd itself has mainly privately owned properties, in the last 2yrs 2 new shops have opened, housing and flats built on the Barwicks site (architecturally pleasing high density, phase 2 just commencing) a new nursing home has been built, several new business have started in both poulton close and opposite the gas towers on Coombe valley, employment in the area sits at over 80%.
All comments suggest that rather than enhance the area it is more of a blot on the landscape.
And then theres :
Essentially a bribe to the planners it will bring in more jobs and more money
In short line 1 is lies, line 2 is obvious.

The latest post in support of the development comes from a Mr L Cheema which by coincidence is the name of the chap that runs the One Stop convenience shop in Coombe Valley Road.

More customers Howard.I agree with ,Reginald’s statement. Some of the new build is very good .i must put my objection in again. The Buses will be crowded.Stagecoach comments were not helpful. Most buses are well used because it caters for River and out lying villages.
