12:5666655I believe that no person or organisation is above the law. If that law is wrong we should fight to change it.
Bern...
I could also argue that if this organisation is so good why are there still so many children in care, I think festering is a bit strong.
The answer is that there are just not enough suitable foster parents and adoptive parents for any organisation to place children with so they have to stay in care.
With regard to religious adherance does that mean that catholics are not allowed to be gay, something that is beyond control as it is how nature made them.

12:5966656Jan there are plenty of potential adoptive parents but rules prohibit them from being considered. For example, it seems a gay couple are preferable to the wrong colour or fat parents or parents who smoke.

I was going to add that very fact but wondered if that might start another debate.

13:5266665We`ve brought up our girl`s the best we can, and love them to pieces. Though I wouldn`t consider adopting a child, if I did they`d be in good care, but I suspect that certain organisation`s wouldn`t have it simply for me having no religious belief`s. I don`t like the word `atheist`, I simply don`t believe for lack of evidence. Be it catholic, christian muslim whatever, if the interviewer asked me about my religious belief`s I would surely fail, so therefore, I would say that religion is part of this thread. I`m not religion bashing here, just giving my thought`s on what I`ve read on here. Also, regarding this organisation, the subject of this thread, which has been mentioned as running for over 100 year`s, in view of the recent posting`s on here about the sexual activities of priest`s, pope`s, vicar`s etc, I wouldn`t think too much of that history as we can see from recent happening`s, much has been `covered up` over the year`s, and I`m sure we`ll never know what happened to some kids over the decade`s with all record`s most likely destroyed.

Good point
However we can't change the past but we can shape the future by learning by the previous mistakes.

14:0266669I think it`s the big problem in our present life Marek, politician`s and statesmen make the same mistakes over and over. As a non newspaper reader, or news listener for a few year`s now, I can maybe see a clearer picture of life than what many other`s can.

15:3266685Regarding the bible, it`s a 2000 year old book Alexander, with many alteration`s in it as science has gradually progressed to prove much of it`s important writing`s wrong. My anger with it is how it`s held up scientific progress for centuries!

18:5666730Let me make one point clear, i am not the slightest bit homophobic as some of you may know from previous postings. However I do have reservations about gay people adopting children, not only because of the lifestyle but I believe a child should have a mother and father coupled with a stable upbringing.
Regarding Alexander and his posting, he is expressing his view, his opinion, his thoughts, perhaps a bit strong but nevertheless his beliefs that perhaps many think but are suppressed through legislation.
I don't believe his post will incite mass hatred of gay people and I doubt whether in a weeks time anybody will remember it, he's had his say and is entitled to it.
Now I hope I haven't offended anybody.

20:1766749Dave, everyone is entitled to their opinion and they are free to express that opinion within the confines and limits of the law; what is not acceptable is over stepping the limit of the law.

21:0566770My post #42 is not me expressing a "gay" bashing sentiment; I have very many gay friends. It's hard to work in the airline business without having any to be honest. But, having said that, and being close to how they live, for the most part you wouldn't know the difference between gays and straights and consequently I have no problem with gays adopting. They are very loving people generally.
What I object to is the exclusion of others as I mentioned, the children need loving homes first and foremost, not public sector workers pandering to the PC brigade. Fat people may not be Olympic athletes (Geoff Capes might disagree) but they are just as capoable of providing a solid, loving home for a distressed child. Similarly, ther is nothing wrong with a black couple having a white child or vice versa.
Those who make these decisions should take a long hard look at the stupid rules they impose and maybe ask themselves the question, "if we were killed tomorrow would we prefer our kids to be put in a hom or given to a loving, black, gay, fat, smoking home with two people who will give them the care and affection we are no longer able to?"
Just maybe then they will drop all this snobbish, prejudiced "we know better than anyone else" pomposity.
As for Alexanders post, well he has just proven what some of us suspected.

21:2666797That's a good way of keeping out of it Vic....
Sid, I am with you apart from the smoking - given the proven health risks there can be no excuses for putting a child at such risk. As for fat/black/white/gay/vegan/carnivore/short/tall - what does any of it matter if the child is loved and not at risk?

21:2766799Alexander I have wiped your posts 47 and 48 but left the skeleton of them there to remind us that you posted. You must not post stuff that is very offensive to other members. You can always state a point of view without being offensive to such a degree. I have asked you before to restrain yourself on some near racist style posts about immigrants too.
So please be aware that being offensive is not wanted...its not what we do. Spirited debate is one thing but....
