i will keep this short and not name the company involved unless paul gives the OK.
in january i recieved a phone bill which showed optional extras were costing more than calls.
i e mailed them and requested that they be removed, i had 3 e mails back saying that this had been done.
in april i received my next bill which showed the charges still on there, they admitted by e mail that it was their mistake,
and could i pay this bill and i would be credited the next time.
this i did.
the july bill comes in, no credit and more charges added.
many exchanges of e mails with different people in the company, the upshot is that they cannot cancel an invoice once issued, their system does not allow it!!!!!!!
they insist that i pay yet again for services that i do not get.
yours sincerely
victor meldrew.
paul
i have documentary eveidence that supports my case totally.
let me know if i can name the, if not what if i make an anagram of their name?

Seems like some people have good luck and another bad. We are on NPower and is has been all over the news about people having trouble getting overpayments back - we just had a couple of hundred quid back without asking !
Been nice knowing you :)

post office home phone.
has anyone ever come across a company that cannot correct an invoice before.
where i have worked in the past, a full or part credit note is normal.
i get the distinct impression that the company here is employing child labour judging by the responses that i get.

paul(scotchie)
you mention overpayments.
at present i am with british gas for both fuel supplies.
the agreement was that i would get a card for both so that i could pay regularly rather than get massive bills suddenly.
on the electricity, i got a card, and paid a set amount each month, much more than i used so that in winter i would not suddenly get a nasty bill in.
my credit reached over a £100 so they sent me a cheque for that amount, a week later a letter came through that i had reneged on my agreement.
after 3 years with british gas, i have still not received a card, despite over 20 requests.

With a certain 'phone company, we had masses of trouble. If I were to go into it all, this post would be pages long. It all got very unpleasantly heavy by the end, too.
It's sorted now, thankfully, but it took nearly six months to do it.
Best of luck, howardmcs!

maggie
i was with BT for over 30 years, no billing problems.
i just got fed up with them phoning me day and night asking why i did not want any more of their wonderful services.
a prime example
BT caller "have i called at a convenient time"?
me: not really just halfway into my dinner.
bt caller "fine, we have a new range of services to offer, that you will be excited about!!"
etc etc
the british gas service centre is the best though, ring them during a freezing cold winter's night to tell them
that your heating and hot water has packed up, they will then cheerfully tell you that they will be there in 3 days time,
during a 6 hour window, then enquire whether you wish to avail yourself of anymore of their wonderful services!!
this happened to me at 4 am on a january morning.
i had tried all evening, just getting a machine telling me how much they valued my call.
went to bed for 4 hours to stop myself freexing to death, then guessed that at 4 am there would not be so many people ringing in.
A bit off the topic, but it once took me 7 months to get a whirlpool washing machine fixed, and that included the time an engineer said he had called and hadn't (there were 6 of us in, all waiting for the knock/ring and besides he had said he would phone when he arrived and didn't) and the company then calling me a liar and saying that because I had "messed them about" they couldn't call for another few weeks as I had gone to the back of the list and then didn't fix it right and then had to order the part from a small village in Afghanistan who sent the wronmg one and then they lost my phone number and then complained whan I phoined them daily as I had by that time spent literally hundreds of pounds on the launderette because they kept saying it would be fixed soon so I didn't buy a new one which would actually have been cheaper ....don't get me started.....!!!!!

a bit of the victor meldrew in all of us!!
nowadays, customer service is all full of cheery "how can i help you", "have a nice day" blah blah.
no results though.
i prefer the good old days of surly blokes from the GPO, gas board and electricity companies that actually fixed things.
I'm with you there Howard!!
