Whilst not wanting to correct you
Firstly Roger is not the chair of priory forum
and this person has a folk road group not part of priory forum
acting just for the concerns of folkestone road
All im doing is being the messenger and trying to be helpful
at the end of the day it makes no difference to me

The Dover Express will not run what they call 'prospective' articles on forthcoming events unless you have booked and paid for advertising space. They will however give you about 2 column-inches if you ask them nicely. I am responsible for the PR and publicity for the beer festival at the town hall every February and I have to bang my head against this attitude every year. Add to that the fact that the Mercury editor disapproves of drinking, and I have my work cut out!

Just a little correction on the Priory Forum (but not sure what it has to do with this thread).
When Sheila resigned as Chairman of the Priory Forum, as deputy/vice chairman I took over.
At our AGM a couple of weeks ago, Michael, of the WestBank Guest House took over the Chairmanship of it.
We now have renewed interest and members and have many open meetings where anyone who lives in the area can come along and join in with what we are trying to do - they can offer suggestions, complain about certain things whatever, so long as they want to be involved.
The Multi-Agency group involves various DDC departments, Kent Fire and Rescue, the Police and the PCSO and a Migrant Help-Line Lady.
Now that we know the direction we are going in and how to achieve what we want to achieve, it has now been opened out to include the Clarendon areas and all the side roads and around the Winchelsea roads too - not just the Folkestone Road; but we had to start somewhere.
Do you still get invites to the meetings Howard ? If not I will get your email added to the circulation list - if you'd like to be added to it of course.

ROGER
Thanks for the update, I thought he toldme he was chair, no reason to make it up.
KATHY
I'm not sure which group this chap is coming from as he tells me he also runs an
agency group concerning the Folkestone Road.
So best bet is to chat with him.
I certainly would never think of interferring with the business of the Priory Forum
just the Chair stopped me asked my advice so I gave it.

roger
no invites, did not know about the agm.
It must be very difficult to have a conversation with a chair. Surely it would be easier to speak with the Chairman?
It was the chair that started it Sid - you try ignoring a chair that asks you a question..........!!!!!
Sid. Surely a 'chairperson': where have you been hiding out recently?? (see Harriet Harperson et al!)

Quite right Sid - I cannot really understand why people want inaminate wooden objects involved running meetings.
Its CHAIRMAN - regardless of what gender the chairman is.
Its just so wrong to patronise the ladies by butchering the English language.
Stuff the politically correct half-wits.

Yes, because it is wrong.

wrong IN YOUR EYES SID
theres many things we may disagree on
and thats fine
but i wont change just because in YOUR opinion its wrong, your often wrong
but that's open debate well maybe diffrences of opinion rather than wrong
I say it is wrong Keith because it is a contrived form of language. Contrived by the PC brigade in an effort to demonstrate PCness. I remember our first Chairman in DCAL. She insisted on being called Chairman as that was the role she performed. She said, "I'm not an item of furniture", and she was right.

I have served on committees with some great lady chairmen, they would and do view this pc lark with utter contempt. They would never put up with being talked down to like that.
Remember Amelia Williamson, Keith, when some twerp tried to call her 'chair' at a full council meeting.
You patronise them if you like Keith but the strong minded will have you for breakfast.

But there isnt really a right or wrong in this...as language is always evolving. Every year newer words become acceptable and listed in the dictionaries as situations change. One often sees the newer ones highlighted on the news. Chair does in fact now officially exist as a word. Its in the Cambridge dictionary for example. They havent quite caught up with some of my inventions yet though....gawd help us..like fabtastic!lol jeezez how slow can you be !!
