'Dover’s Library at The Discovery Centre temporarily closed on Monday, 30 October, to enable major improvement works to the building and is expected to reopen again early 2025.'

13 February 2025 19:27386686I remember well being at a Secondary School (in Kent!) where the School Library was transformed over the Summer Holidays into a Learning Centre as it had more little-read books than Chairman Mao's China.
This involved filling a number of large skips with the unread books, replacing tables and chairs with more 'comfortable' furniture and installing a bank of computers so the little darlings could spend their lunchtime by-passing the school's firewall and playing shoot-em-up games and looking for pictures of Britney Spears' front-bottom!
This was roughly the same time that we started teaching all secondary school kids 'Citizenship'.
