DTIZ was planned in a different era. It's quite possible it will have more of a negative impact on the economy of Dover town than a positive.

That is mainly because they (DDC & Bond City) have failed to deliver the high quality development that was promised when Bond City were not thrown off the project after the Asda fiasco.
Passing another (but more expensive) project to a team or teams that have failed to deliver (on time, quality or cost) is an act of madness. Especially when the main benefit will be delivered to the DHB and not Dover.

When I used to cross the Channel regularly there were always hoardings promoting Canterbury for Sunday shopping trips, hopefully the new development here will attract French day trippers even if only for novelty value.

Sorry, and to clarify, para 2 refers to the DTIZ team moving to the new DWDR task force and that project.

Even the most positive thinking Dovorian will be doubtful i'm sure of the Town centre once DITZ Comes into being which Whitfield being promoted in one direction and the DITZ in the other the Town centre is dieing

The town centre is central to the plans of the Town council, His Holiness the Mayor and the Town Team. However we all know that the decision from the Coastal Communities fund early in the new year is instrumental in making things come to pass.

Paul as Leader of DDC I get frustrated at your refusal to provide information, you are one of a handful of people that knows what is going on.
It would be easy to draw the conclusion that in fact Bond City are pulling the wool over your eyes, something I suggested in your office several years ago.
I'm afraid you can't have it both ways, if you contribute to a public forum you must expect to be asked questions, avoiding those questions raises both eyebrows and doubt. The town is stagnating, there is no evidence that you have any interest or desire in doing anything about it.

It is only the town center that is in some case,s stagnating as you word it.The rest is doing better than some towns.
As for what Mr Watkins says or does not say,is because he will not put out a press statement anymore unless he thinks it will happen or 90% that it will ,in the pass they put out statements that were only 50%or less of happing and when they did not the public would have ago at them.

The danger was as I stated above always going to be what happens to the Town centre if you promote Whitfield as a site to go and the DITZ
Of course whatever the outcome Bond will get there dosh

As I said in 568 there are separate plans for the town centre Keith involving the Mayor, Town Council and Town Team.

Howard
I'm fully up to speed with all the differing people doing a little to help
I won't get into some of the arguments on here about peoples involvement
I did ask at the DTC full council about its scheme it will help, and it should all be applauded
but a long way to go

Not that interesting to be honest. It's the last supermarket before driving down to the Eastern Docks. DTIZ won't benefit as the A2 route is used by tourists and the long term plan is for all non cargo traffic to use this route.
What would be interesting is if the leader of DDC stopped wasting his time on forums posting tit tat and actually gave the people he serves a full explanation of why the leading construction company in the UK made an almost unprecedented decision to walk away from this farcical development.

The Knave has played his joker but is wildly out as it is well known in the construction industry that the contractor was chased away they didn't walk away. There are legalities involved so not right to post anything in detail here but the truth will all come out in the fullness of time.
Incidentally what is a tit tat? I am thinking it is an English version of one of those silly little mints that our American friends inflict upon us.

" it is well known in the construction industry that the contractor was chased away they didn't walk away. "
Is this true? In which case WHY were they chased away? And by who?
Let's start to decipher fact from fiction in this debacle.

I wouldn't call the alleged key project for Dovers regeneration and the problems it is still facing boring, well not for those of us that still care.
At a time when the project has no main contractor and the appointment of a new one is now over a month late there is still a lot to worry about whether this project will collapse or not.

Vic,
Possibly boring Chez Matcham, but here in Marlinspike Hall we are always interested in how DDC and others choose to spend money they have taken from us (or even more important propose to borrow on our behalf).
