Exactly Heike.
We had the meeting at the Discovery Centre, which showed that there has been no incompentance or unnecessary delays by either the District Council or the Developers.
Let the legal teams sort out the CPO and the hearing and look forward to the development starting in a proper way.

Roger, your attempts at spin are laughable, you spend far too much time cocooned with your back slapping cronies.
I was at the Discovery Centre and I can tell you the audience left in utter disbelief at the incompetence shown by DDC. 15 years, £millions spent, not a brick laid, I'd like to hear your definition of incompetence is if you think that acceptable.
Deluded jokers the lot of you.

So you have come out of the woodwork after years like a knight and going to save our Town.
I do not think so,Dover has been let down by all partys over many years and you was a member of one of them
Could you have done any better then the ones before you No to that one .
Lets face up to it you only joined UKIP so you will be heard and hope it will give you a seat in local power.

You were indeed at the Discovery Centre David, but you were very quiet and the question you did ask was laughable (I can't remember what it was as it so memorable).
There wasn't any question that went unanswered and most people went away much happier than when they had arrived - apart from you political people (Lib-Dem and UKIP) who only grumble because you think it will give you a political advantage, but it won't and it most definitely won't, if it goes t*ts up, because it will be your fault - not DDC's, nor the developers.
Roger.

Roger, the fact that 'spouting nonsense' by myself could be harmful to the DTIZ process just shows how delusional you all are at DDC. I find it disgraceful that people like yourself have been involved with this utter sham for so long and still expect people to sit quietly while you decimate Dover. Open your eyes, the town is the laughing stock of Kent, possibly the country!
The damage has been done. Do you really think even if this eventually happens people are all of a sudden going to forget all the years of negativity and decide to go and visit Dover to watch a film or buy some expensive food.

That's the pot calling the kettle black!
Roger, although it's true that no question went unanswered, several said the reply wasn't the answer to the question they asked, and Paul Watkins admitted he didn't know the answer to my question "Why are the minutes of the Project Advisory Group (St James's Area Development) not available online?" I have since received printed copies going back to the late 90s through an FOI request and the
Minutes of the latest meetings (in 2011) are now online though heavily redacted.
Let's not forget though that this is a process that was started by the Labour group in the mid 1990s and has been on-going through several administrations, you should be able to recognise why residents are frustrated at nothing happening after at least 16 years in the planning.

An actual piece of positive news. Looking at the site plan, plot 7A is now under offer.

Ray - I do appreciate people's frustration and cynicism about the length of time it has taken to get this far, I share their frustration and cynicism and that is why nothing should be done to interfere with the CPO process.
I understand that this current plan was started by the Labour group in 2002, but I know that various plans etc. had been going for many years.

Even where heads of terms have been signed with landowners DDC's lawyers are dragging their feet and making nit-picking objections where details have been previously been agreed.

That's how lawyers earn their crust Peter. I remember a Punch cartoon from Victorian times. Two farmers were in dispute over the ownership of a cow. One farmer was pulling the head the other was pulling the tail. The lawyer was underneath milking it!

I can't remember that far back, Terry. However, on the wall of the Mash Tun I have a Punch cartoon from about 1900 depicting Balfour and Joe Chamberlain driving a coach and pair during the previous Lib-Con coalition. Amusing and amazingly prescient. The Lib horse is facing forwards in the shafts while the Conservative horse is facing backwards.

I don't normally reply to your drivel, but for clarification, which party was I a member of?

It's not you who wield any influence David, but the drivel you talk is and can be, counter-productive.
I don't think there is any point in me giving you any more oxygen of publicity for your sad and vindictive kind of politics.

Roger, have you any idea how much longer it will be before the CPOs are sorted?
I am sure the people of Dover will have more faith in DTIZ when they know that Burlington House etc will get demolished rather than the present we hope it will go.

Jan - the CPO hearing is set for late September, so not long to wait. If the one who is holdiong out, settles, then there will be no further delay. That's as much as I know.
We all need to support the DTIZ, not knock it.

Thanks Roger I hope it gets settled quickly so work can start.
I have got to the stage of hoping it goes well even though I think it is wrong to have shops because it makes the shopping area even more stretched out than it is.

Really Roger? I was under the impression the CPO Public Inquiry in September was information gathering only to be assessed at later date by the Secretary of State!

Is Jack right Roger? After all I believe you sit on the DTIZ planning committee.
