Is this a failing of political leadership (Mr Watkins) or organisational leadership (Mr Aziz)?
Surely the politicians provide the vision and outline the solution and the officers do the delivery, in which case the blame lies with Messers Aziz, Randall, Walton & Davis; both for this ongoing fiasco as well as the poor track record on inward investment.
Yes it does.
Political leadership (Mr Watkins) is entrusted to represent the democratic rights of the people and yet blatant lies and withholding of truth has been extensive.

At the end of the day our politicos employ people that are experts in their field, in return the latter get high salaries and pension schemes commensurate with that. I can't remember the last time our top earner the Chief Executive has been hauled over the coals and can only remember one leading officer, Tim Ingleton making any public statements about the DTIZ. To accuse the political leadership of telling blatant lies is crass in the extreme as they can only pass on information that the "experts" have told them.

Maybe DDC in common with many other organisations (NHS?) have far to many high income so called "experts" who are seldom if ever called to account by anyone.
These "experts" often manage to weave a scenario where they are virtually unsackable so we are stuck with them unless they get some ridiculous enormous payoff.

This should silence the moaners and groaners.
Full attendance should be the order of the day.

Sorry Christine a small moan.
The above gathering should also be held during the day, I along with many other oldies do not go out in the evening and many parents will also find this a difficult time of day. Will this new? information be available on line or is it just the existing stuff that is already out there.

Jan Higgins - really not directed at you. Your comments are very positive.
Trouble is. now, we have to be thankful for small mercies.
"They" are coming out of their holes to talk to us.
Going to give it all as much publicity as possible, by word and mouth.
Interested in this "Love Dover" campaign, as I do not see much "Love" around at the moment .

Hmm! Does not bode well, that is if I have understood the only bit of available information....

Very interesting. Mr Rix and Ms Burton have their liability capped at £1 however Dover Council is a guarantor!
The paragraph on conflicts of interest also makes interesting reading

Looking forward to meeting. Apart from DTIZ one wonders what is happening about the £350,000 tarting up of the High Street. Here :-

Latest update on LoveDover, to be presented to the Full Council meeting tonight 8/2/17) at 6:00pm.
Report to: Full Town Council
Meeting date: 8 February 2017
From: Cllr Neil Rix, Chairman of Dover Town Council
Date written: 30 January 2017
Subject: Update on LoveDover Regeneration Co.
1. INTRODUCTION
At an extraordinary Council meeting in August,it was resolved that the
Town Council agrees to fund £350,000 from the Special Project and
General Reserves to establish a stand-alone, not-for-profit, regeneration
company for Dover in line with the proposals outlined in the report
above”.
This report is to update Council as to progress.
2. INFORMATION
Application for the registration of LoveDover Regeneration Company as a
Charitable Incorporated Organisation was made to the Charities
Commission (C.C.) on 14 September 2016. The threshold of proof of social
benefit and appropriate charitable objectives for charities involved in
property is higher than that for those in other areas of activity. As a result
considerable additional information, proof of need and activity plans had
to be provided to the C.C. during a period stretching to over three months.
During this period, an undertaking to purchase 7 Market Square was given
to the owner of that property, a price agreed and the usual searches,
surveys and investigations undertaken. A date for completion was
negotiated at 23 December 2016.
As the deadline for contract exchange approached, agreement to
charitable status had not been received as the Charity Commission now
had a backlog of cases. As an interim measure, to allow for completion of
purchase, the LoveDover Regeneration Company was incorporated as a
limited by guarantee, not for profit company at Companies House on
December 21st 2016 no. 10535149.
The purchase of 7 Market Sq. was completed on 23 December 2016.
On 4 January 2017, the Charity Commission registered LoveDover as a
Foundation Model Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the charity
reference no. 1170981.
As a result, once the property has been transferred into the ownership of
the CIO, the limited company will be dissolved.
A bank account has been set up for the CIO, LoveDover and the balance of
funds committed by Dover Town Council has been transferred.
Work is in hand on the constitution document, financial regulations, risk
register, policies, procedures and trustee application forms ready for a first
meeting of the Board of Trustees in February 2017.

Dickens Corner, 7 Market Square, DOVER, Kent, CT16 1LZ, UK
IMO I do not recognise this as being a derelict or failing property. Rather a lovely building kept in good order, with a thriving business.
Mr Mayor has had his eye on this for a long time. Now gifted with our money.
Don't you just LOVE DOVER
