Amazing, I thought KCC were broke. Yet they spend all this money of 1.5 million on changing a one way system to a two way system for one route to save a couple of minutes. which nobody wants.
Yet they cut other bus services to save money. Aycliffe evening service being one. How are we meant to connect to the fast track service to Whitfield if we do not have any bus services…
They will consult the public but will ignore everyone…

Notwithstanding anything else the bridge over the A2 is one of the ugliest I've seen in a while.
It looks as though they've just slapped five (?) RSJs across the gap to take the strain.
Whilst that might be acceptable to take heavy freight trains over a canal in the industrial Midands I really do think they could have done better to take the occasional electric bus and the local ferals on electric bikes over the A2?

"The proposed scheme would be fully funded by the Department of Transport (DfT) through the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP)." Incidentally, back in the 60s, Aycliffe had 2 buses per hour in the weekday evenings and Ropewalk had 3.

Not finished yet?
No it isn't - though it was meant to be!

Fastrack is not prepared to commit to an opening date apart from ‘Spring’. There is still due to be a TRO (traffic regulation order) consultation concerning the installation of the camera recognition system and new road. This was initially meant to be undertaken much earlier this year but as yet has not happened. No doubt it will be done during a holiday period when people will be too busy to look at it properly, much like the initial consultation which took place during lockdown!

Pedestrians could be knocked down and killed by “silent” electric buses if a new contraflow system is introduced in Dover, a town councillor fears.

This "plan" is an ill conceived computer generated idea..........just like the now defunct "cycle" lane along the Maison Dieu Road....
Pencester Road....has a line of small business....all dependent on the parking of cars alongside...which bring life and business to the road.....Coffee and eating places...Poundland...International Food Market...and so on......
It is a busy, commercial hub.......We have a business in Dover and understand totally that footfall/parking is essential to make a living....
This proposal is shocking........not thought out....and cruel...
Thank you..

As it looks to be one of those crackpot KCC schemes, does DDC or DTC have an opinion?

I must admit that I had overlooked the effect on vehicles associated with St Paul's hatch, match and despatch business:

It’s a great pity that the whole Dover Fastrack proposal wasn’t reconsidered before the first spade was put into the ground. A huge amount of money spent to get people from Whitfield into a town with very little to offer. Still no sign of a definite opening time and still lots of work to be done.

Well, I support the St. Paul's petition, and I'll join with Catholics for Crusading if it's ignored.

Once again I will say
Stagecoach and the council should concentrate on the failing bus network before entering into wasting millions on such a project

Failing bus network is about right,we dont use them often but last night just got dropped off at Pencester after a coach trip out,a very long day it was and looked at the bus timetable which said the next bus for us was at 8.00pm which would have been great had it turned up.8.25pm and still no bus so had no option but to ring for a cab which was with us within 5mins.We wont bother with buses again. Its not the first time we,ve been let down by them. The timetables are as useful as bog paper.
