Thanks Andrew.
There's a lot to do and organise, but with the enthusiasm by those present - and most are young and know all the techie stuff, I'm sure if costs are containable, it can be done.
Sponsors and advertisers will have good coverage and of course awareness is a large part of its success, so those businesses will need to be contacted over the coming weeks and months.

Did the group discuss why previous such projects in Dover had failed? If so, what is the plan to avoid the same pit-falls?

I think the main reason it failed before, was because it costs (for RSLs - Restricted Service Licence) £300 per day, but now Community Radio has been introduced, it is much less, but Community Radio can't have advertisers, just sponsors, RSLs can, so they're going to try an RSL first.

that is immoral roger, 300 quid a day?
when you say much less, how much less?
community radio is now more important than ever, television south east covers most of the country now and teletext is much the same.
i would be satisfied if east kent had its own voice, all the best to the people making the effort.
East Kent does have its own voice, in fact two: Dame Vera Lynn, or, for the modernists, Buster Bloodvessel!

I'm not exactly sure of the distance covered by community radio, but it would only be the Dover area.
I have no idea who fixes the price at £300 per day, but it really does cut out, or down, the amount of RSLs and community radios around the Country.

That's the whole point of it Roger; a sort of BBC Regional Radio protectionism from HMG.
