22:4512912sorry to see this thread go down a level.
is it important what racial grouping or religion suffers the most?
all i see is terrified kids, and people on here, safe and sound, making political points.

22:4912914No argument here Howard - easy to talk from the safety of our homes. Those kids should not be where they are and the tragedy continues. But we need to understand and debate if an answer is to be found, and sometimes it needs outsiders to do it.

20:3212995the chap at the UN keeps demanding a ceasefire.
however the US control the UN, the US support israel in whatever they do.
the assume that the jewish vote is always of a zionist behaviour.
interesting to see the jewish board of deputies in our fair land call a halt to the bombings.
very interesting also to see the top muslims in the UK denounce anti semitism that has arisen because of actions abroad.

20:5112999Positive moves indeed, Howard. It is a long slow process, but there are good signs.

20:4113051may just be a political gambit brian.
israel are standing accused of war crimes over bombing of UN schools and hospitals.
they can claim the moral high ground with a unilateral ceasefire, knowing that hamas will continue with their rockets.
more importantly, they are aware that the new US president will not give them the unequivocal support that they have enjoyed in the past.

09:1913064Well a ceasfire was indeed announced and it gave everyone a peaceful night on the Gaza strip...but what happened just a few short minutes ago this morning, more rockets were fired into Southern Israel by Hamas. I mean that is just plain bad.
That action by Hamas will just bring more suffering to their own people on a widescale. I mean, yes, defiance is one thing but stupidity is something else.
At this point Hamas should try and work out a settlement of some sort or more innocent people will die for no gain at all.

09:3413065Hamas don't want to work out a settlement PaulB - other than the annihilation of Israel and with Iran's (who are supplying the weapons) similar stated aim, Israel have to fight for their very survival.

18:1513103That's not cynical Brian (if it was a cynical posting); Iran have stated many times they want the state of Israel to cease to exist and will do all they can t0 speed that - I wouldn't believe anything Iran says, unless it was backed by actions.

18:3313105Or is it that Hamas already have enough stockpiled?
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

19:5313114i fail to see how deliberately targetting schools and hospitals run by the UN helps the security of israel.
they seem to be playing into the hands of hamas at present.

08:4913170I agree too.
Even if you don't watch the news or read papers, there's a mountain of info on the web; if people have a firm view of who is right and who is wrong, they won't (or very rarely) change their mind. But they can try to find out - Brian.
