21:3613422Good - a transparent examination of the events should help to make things clearer. First, there has to be a War, and terrorists are often a peacetime phenomenon, they are unnecessary in wartime. Hamas is a terrorist organisation.

23:5213428all alleged crime should be investigated, the definition of war gets ever blurred.
i suspect an independent enquiry will throw up some evidence of genocide in this case.

08:4613445I'm sure there will Howard, but while Hamas send up rockets to Israel from residential areas and schools and then Israel send back rockets and bombs back to where they came from, then that will always happen.
I can't understand why the people of Gaza still support Hamas and not support peaceful means to a settlement.

17:5713510Yes of course you can support who you like Brian, I was talking about your comparison of me supporting the Tory's and the people of the Gaza strip supporting Hamas, who are direc tly causing their (the people of Gaza) deaths.
Weapons nowadays are so technically sophisticated that they can pinpoint where rockets are fired from, hence the Israeli attacks on residential areas and schools, because that's where Hamas are firing them from and that is why so many civilians are dying and why Hamas are directly responsible.

20:4513533i doubt if the people of gaza wish to support anybody, they are thrown into a situation where people with guns, rockets and all sorts of fireworks are lobbing them at each other.
all reports i have read from that benighted places state that the residents are terrified but have nowhere else to go.

21:0013536exactly howard, they have to sumugle food, fuel etc through tunnels just to survive.now if they opened the gates to alow food to flow through things might just might calm down.
22 January 2009
21:2213539It's not about walls or gates, it's about the people of Gaza being victims of Hamas as much as the Israelis are, and as much as the people of Gaza are victims of the Israeli force. The people living in Gaza have only the information that Hamas allow them to have - if you understand that, you understand why they support Hamas and why the bloodshed continues.

10:1713574There is now a serious investigation being called for into the use of Phosphorous weapons by the Israelis. These weapons, while still indeed legal, are only supposed to be used in open battlefields. Phosphorous burns the skin and sometimes penetrates right through to the bone. The shells explode above the ground and the white phosphorous therefore spreads itself over a wide area. It is not supposed to be used in a built up civilian city situation as obviously then members of the public, women kids etc suffer these horrendous injuries. The BBC have reported a number of times that these weapons were being used. The Israelis dont seem sure as to whether they were or not.

11:3613585There was also a report last night indicating that the Israelis are using 'Flashettes' ie shells packed with tiny darts which cause major injuries and death penetrating not only flesh but also bone.
