Absolutely agree Barry. Of course it does not reflect on the people of Dover, they can not attend an event they did not know about. There seems to have been a breakdown of communication between the MOD, DHB and the councils. Let's only hope that lessons are learned for the future.
I have been reliably iinformed that the event was covered on pages 12-13 in The Sun today should anyone fancy a look.

the harbour board must have known, but they do not show a great deal of interest in dover.
surely, they would have notified one of our various councils.
it is has been said many times in this thread, but what a shameful day for our town.
the sea front should have been cordoned off, some sort of welcoming committee and signs telling people what is happening.
seeing pics of those people in london with artificial limbs lost at war, really rubbed it in.

There is now a report of the event on HMS Bulwarks page on the Royal Navy's website. It makes interesting reading. Still livid about the lack of publicity we must all complain to anyone and everyone we can think of IT MUST NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.

Thanks Tom.
Here's the direct link to the Bulwark website to save searching.

Here's my little YouTube video of the event I put together this evening.
I apologise for the shaky hand-held action as I had not considered bringing a tripod, and the scene is all rather dark and grey. Still, I hope it gives a flavour of the event.

seems like we are up the old cul-de sac again.
a councillor on the "events" committee, promised to investigate and report back.
a resounding silence follows.
the gagging appears to continue.

I spoke with the Chairman on Monday he knew nothing about it .The Chief executives PR knew nothing either. It was not in our events diary.have you tried the Town Council??There is a lack of communication between DDC PR and Town Council.I gather DDC Chairman was not invited to Dover Calais Festival of Sport. When it was run by DDC then DDC and DTC i got an invite.Sorry cant help any further on this matter I have been to two conferences this week plus cabinet and dont forget Pink Tombolla at tomorrows Rose Show.
