Silly name for a Dover restaurant and cannot find it on the internet. I went there on Thursday evening and it was excellent.
Unfortunately I do not see how it will survive as there was only one other table occupied. Pity the food is just a bit too expensive for most people in Dover particularly pensioners. They have cut the cheap things from the menu I was told and hope to appeal to the people from the cruise ships.
Fantastic menu, service could not have been better. Excellent quality and presentation of food. Marvelous view of course if lucky enough to get a window seat.
I had to pay for the meal as lost my bet to my son who was correct it was Nick Bailey in the rowing boat. That man is just too fit.
Where is this?

Hythe Bay is the restaurant in, surprisingly, Hythe that has taken over the Sea Sports Centre Restaurant so taken their name. I think they are owned by Eastwell Manor.
When I went in their late afternoon last Sunday it was rather busy too and the service is definately a lot better
Been nice knowing you :)
It is on the beach near Cullins Yard and the little sandwich kiosk. The rowing club store their boats underneath.
It used to be called something else but I don't know what. It has been taken over by the Hythe Fish Bay company and is confusingly advertised in the Dover Express. It has the same menu as the Hythe Fish Bay which can be found online. and where the posh people live in Hythe.
I never went to the one in Hythe as felt it was too expensive.

It's the Sea Sports centre Bern. I think it's the third name change it's had. Shame about the price hike, the old breakfasts for a fiver weren't bad value.
We went to a party there recently, great service, fantastic views but incredably expensive bar prices

Yes prices are high.
My wife and I enjoy the occassional meal out...being pensioners not that often and go to LaScala, The Allotment etc for a treat.
Went to Seasports Centre (Hythe Bay Restaurant)only last Tuesday evening. However didnt even go inside when a board outside gave "Special of the Day...Lemon Sole, salad and chips £24.95."
What the wine list prices would be leave to the imagination and probably as Paul has idicated in #6, my imagination was correct.

We saw that board outside advertising the special of the day at £24.95 (in fact it has stupidly been there every day this week) and thought it would definitely put people off going inside.
We weren't planning a meal out but did go inside to see a copy of their menu and winelist and thought the prices for both meals and wines were reasonable, nothing as expensive as £24.95!
They are currently doing an August special offer of 2 courses for 2 people and a bottle of house wine for £40.00 total which we would try if we weren't on diets after rather too many full Yorkshire breakfasts during our recent trip to Yorkshire!

I sent the menu to my Old Man in the hope it might prompt something.....I will let you know. The menu looked cool, and not too expensive considering if you factor in a view as well and if the wine list is decent.

Perhaps the prices are more suited to Whitstable than Dover?
Audere est facere.
Are we not being aspirational any more? Content to accept the third rate and undeserved reputation that we have foisted on us by our less than effective reps? I don't think so!! Where there is excellence let's shine a light on it and make it thrive!

Sue
You just beat me to it...as Anne mentioned the on-line contact I had a look and quite surprised to see the August offer and certainly the menu is reasonable if the quality is there.
I mentioned to previous catering at Seasports Centre to put in the window their menu and opening times...It would be a good idea if The Hythe Bay did this as to see a "Special Board at £24.95" will as I did just walk away.I have e-mailed them accordingly as a suggestion.
They do need to market and communicate their product better.
A common issue in Dover, it would seem!

i think they may have misjudged the effect of the cruise passengers, most would walk past with a full stomach from breakfast, then they look for fish and chips in the middle of the day before they return to the ship for dinner.
that is for only about 4 months a year anyway, i don't think that there is a market for another high priced restaurant locally.
The assets may decrease the risks - I haven't been yet but would pay for a good sea view and decent wine, and I suspect others may as well. If the food was up to it, of course, and the only way to find out is to try it. (Less than subtle hint for the Old Man...)

Not sure Cruise passengers are too bothered about venues that look out to sea, they see a lot of it when cruising

Audere est facere.
Presumably their love of the sea was part of their reason for booking a cruise.....?

And the all inclusive food

Audere est facere.
I guess us Dovorians also deserve a decent restaurant, too...!
