Obviously, theres nothing more I would love to see than this cobbled together govt fall apart.
Are the recent top lib men coming under the microscope the start of the crumbling of this cobbled together lot?
Clearly the tories don't care as they want to go alone and prob would welcome another general election, although I'm unsure that they)(tories)Pwould do as well again, and of course across the country many Lib Dems will lose there seats to Labour and other parties due to the actions they have taken since the last general election.
I wonder?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Keith. You ask a question (is this the start of the crumble) but give no potential answer.
I would be fascinated to know how an overdrawn government on the periphery of Europe might behave in 2010 in your fantasy ??>

the yellows have made a faustian pact that they cannot break, when the coalition ends the party will split into two.
i just hope for the sake of the country that the love match continues for a few years, we all need stability at present.
Keith. With all due respect.
Looking at the present government we have a load of clever people.
I would personally prefer the the Government to be run by people who are run by pragmatism rather than some strange belief in an outmoded theory. ( i.e. Keynes rather than Marx)

not strictly true bob, listening to george and dave amongst other blues, they seem to have an idealistic hatred of the public sector.
i get the impression that they will thoroughly enjoy cutting jobs in it, irrespective of whether the department is doing a good job or not.
pragmatism is looking at what needs to be cut and what needs to be saved with a cool head.
Howard, I think that Gideon and the boy are carrying very little baggage.
The question (as always) is how does one get an efficient and profitable society running at this point in time.
Yes there will be cuts, but I suspect that you too would be slightly suspicious if we still had a load of Government subsidised wheelwrights in Dover?
I really don't want the UK Government to fail. Why would I? I live here. I want a government to govern. I may disagree with some of their policies, but that's inevitable. I don't agree withh all the policies at work but I still adhere to them in the absence of better ones. What ever happened to the country supporting its government? Not the badduns, the expenses cheats, the eejits - but we can deal with them now we have grown up thanks to the Torygraph.

weelwrights?
how about sheffield forgemasters, a successful business that needed a loan of 80 million smackers to take the company further forward?
no chance, all cancelled due to ideology.
this was a company that could have led the rest of the world in the nuclear power industry, instead they will have to soldier on alone whilst their rivals in other countries will have ready finance.
of course there must be cuts, they must be based on business sense and not stifle growth.

The Tory press are obviously targeting the Liberal members of the Government, do they have agenda?

Howard -
1/ If they are such a successful business they would not want/need a government subsidy.
2/ Cancelled because we are broke, not because of ideology.
Face the facts howard - the public sector has become bloated, fat and inefficient. For a healthy economy it is essential to cut it back. Its not a matter of hatred of the public sector at all, just a matter of getting it back to viability.

you are avoiding the issue here, sheffield forgemasters are a highly successful company that are a victim of their own success.
the new government only seems to see things in black and white i.e. money spent or money saved.
investment in this company would ensure that the united kingdom is at the forefront of the nuclear industry.
The CEO of Sheffield Forgemasters said they accepted the new government decision and would fund the programme from elsewhere. He didn't seem too phased, so just more wishful thinking and pie in the sky ideology and spin from the usual suspects, again.
Bern, a mature and sensible posting, thanks.

i do not do spin sid, do you seriously believe that the banks of today will stump up that kind of money?
hard enough for a member of the public to get 10 grand for a car.
Keith, your posting is very revealing:
"Obviously, theres nothing more I would love to see than this cobbled together govt fall apart."
Frankly, it shows where your priorities lie. Most people's priority seems to be: "there's nothing more I would like to see than our economy recovered". My business is being slayed by the recession at the moment along with many others, and I want the economy fixed by whoever is smart enough to fix it. Your priority is shallow political agenda. No wonder Labour got voted out with that sort of thinking behind our current situation.

Well, I`m disappointed that #9 didn`t get any response from other member`s on here, as it certainly draws an important question. Did you have custard on it Alec?
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.
