Nural Islam asks Nadeem Aziz how much longer will he have to put up with being surrounded by boarded up buildings.
Jeanette thanks Nadeem.

It's quite refreshing in todays world that here in England and in Kent we have Nadeem AZIZ in charge of millions of community charge payers money getting it in the ear from a fellow Asian, Nural ISLAM, about Dover Town and its decaying centre.
I don't think I would have seen a similar headline in the Dhaka Post ie " 2 Brits in disagreement over Dhakas Road and Housing problems".
We are a welcoming nation and long so should it exist.

mr islam seems to have suffered more than most from the decay in that part of town.
he must have a lot of regulars, because i cannot see any passing trade stopping in such a derelict area.

I think that many of the negative comments are borne out of frustration and growing cynicism.
I would say that it isn't Nadeem's nor DDCs fault about the delay, I do believe that the developers should take some responsibility - I'm sure they want it to succeed as they are putting their own money in now, but are they pushing the landownership issues (which is a big delaying factor) hard enough ? My view is that they aren't.
If the land-ownership issues are delaying the area round Burlington House/County Hotel, then why doesn't phase one start - on the corner of Townwall Street and Woolcomber Street, build the Hotel and Tower etc. then when these CPOs are resolved, they can put the telecommunications masts on top of the Tower and Hotel and proceed to knock down BH.
But in the mean-time, we still need to look after Dover Town.

Interesting to note *from the photos above, that there doesn't appear to be anyone of a younger age in attendance. In fact when I went to the Prison meeting last year I think I was the youngest person in the room. I guess the younger generation aren't so interested in the future? Which leads me on to another question, how old is the youngest councillor/public voted rep?

We need some younger people getting involved in the future of this town, old heads are great but surely the younger generation should have some say in the future of the town.

it is much the same everywhere, very difficult for younger people to find the time to get involved.
they get married, try to hold jobs down while paying rent or mortgage, have kids etc.
