Thanks for that Roger yes the Agenda was changed and we had to bring another item in,and it went on for an hour an a half, which meant I had to go to work before I got the question in,I wrote a note to the Chairman and asked if someone else could ask the question, but this is not normally allowed,so if it wasn't I asked for a written reply.Sorry
The meeting just goes to show what is wrong with Council's were there were 3 members of the Public there and because the Agenda was changed we kicked them out after 15 mins to discuss something in the 'Pink' and they had to leave for 1 and a half hours before they were let back in,and we wonder why people don't come to Council meetings.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Spot on Sid. I believe you've highlighted the cynicism and misplaced values that permitted the parking arrangements to be changed in the first place, but frankly I expect nothing else from DDC - as you say, blood on their hands and the rest of us be damned.

As was said John was unable to ask his question it will be interesting to see what the written reply will say, never very happy with written replies rather it came straight from the horses mouth.
But we know something has to be done.
Thanks Jan. Any idea when the talking will stop and something will be done? Every day that passes takes us one day nearer to the fatality none of us wants.

Are you calling Nigel a horse Jan ?
This may be been instigated by DDC, but was approved by the Police and Kent Highways.
DDC only put forward the proposal and can only change it if the above bodies deem it dangerous; they can't do it on their own.

Isnt there an old expression Clod Hopper?
If the original agenda had been aderred to John would have got his question answered by the man himself not a horse
Nay nay!! Perhaps they were all simply chewing the cud - I seem to have strayed into an alternative species there!
John is right to point out that the faffing and ridiculous adherence to "protocols" turns us plebs away from attending council meetings. I remember one (my only one) when I first moved here that turned into an absolute farce of councillors refusing to speak to the "audience" because they didn't word a question correctly or address the right person!! Lay people neither understand nor care about which chain someone is wearing, they just want respect and answers. Customer Care are the buzz words and councils and other local and regional reps will need to heed them if they are to survive!!
Meantime, what can we do about the ridiculous and dangerous situation on the seafront? I don't want to wait for that fatality, as Sid suggests. Perhaps specs for all those responsible? Clearly they cannot see the obvious.

if kent highways and the police are content with the situation then it seems unlikely that change will come soon.
No Howard, that is almost an advocacy of inaction, something Dover is already famous for!
How about someone posts on here the names and addresses of those we need to write to, to get some ACTION?

I don't agree it's a recipe for inaction Sid; it really is down to them, but if people want to write to the necessary people, I'll find out those names, titles and positions.
Roger
Thank you Roger - actions speak!

Surely to God, Kent Highways and the Police cannot NOW be happy with this moronic way of parking

One serious accident, and this forum can say, we told you so.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.
Colette, I am astounded that ANYONE AT ALL thinks the parking along there is ok!! Never mind apparently experienced people paid to know about these things. As Sid and Colin have intimated: what does it take?

Colin
You're right with the words in your last post - we would indeed be able to say "I told you so", but they would be hollow words indeed in the event of serious injury or worse. Councillors shouldn't need a serious injury or fatality to do what is right, they should do so on the dictates of their conscience.
Councillors - conscience. Recent events and the actions of one particular Councillor leave me to conclude that this is a classic example of an oxymoron. He/she knows who he/she is........

i thought it was between kent highways and the police to decide if the parking is dangerous, not really down to dover district council.
Whoever it is, is who we should be speaking with.
We have Town, District and County councillors. If they could get off their backsides and unite as one voice to Kent Highways and the police we might see some action instead of blood.
Is this really too much to ask for?
