Paul,
Could I ask what is SEEDA's future? Are they on their way out and if so who might be taking over at Fowlmead Country Park? With organising the Kent Miners Festival as an annual community event and with the plans we have to improve the park,we are concerned about its future?

Chins up lads, I'm a great believer in fate and things happening for a reason, never give up and never stop believing in your ideals and ambitions.

SEEDA is likely to go. Funds will be cut to minimum in the South East and sent to undefined [at present] structures , Local Enterprise Partnerships which are expected to be business led. 50% local authorties 50 %business with a business chairman.
Where the boundaries for these structures are is up for grabs but they must be "natural economic areas." What that means is still to be determined.

As far as Jim Braithwaite is concerned, I said "I speak as I find". The man invested his time to undertake this role -accepted there was an allowance but that would in no way compensate for the time spent away from his businesses or their development.
He did Dover no harm. Indeed he invested in Dover and the coalfields[albeit public money]. Not his fault the market does not want to respond.

Thanks for answer Paul, though I'm not sure I'm any wiser.
When Seeda go, which I'm told will take over a year to wind up. If no business partner if found, is it likely that places like Fowlmead will shut?

No Gary , talks are taking place over the future of the site and who takes over SEEDA assets.

I'm trying to think of a more pertinent mnemonic for SEEDA than 'South East England Development Agency'; given their excellent track record here in Dover (HOW long has Buckland Mill been an empty shell?), the best I have been able to come up with is 'Sod Everything, Even Dover, Asshole' - can anyone come up with anything better?

where do you get these words from andy?
mnemonic? i had to dig the dictionary out for that one, bad enough with bob frost.
Perhaps acronym might be more accetpable Howard? My suggestion?
