15:5070114 I walked down Whitfield hill above this morning, and encountered a mass of tiny spherical balls, which are used in the emergency runaway vehicle stopping bed on the right. The pavement was covered in them and I lost my balance and slipped on them. If anyone is looking in who know`s someone to contact, they need sweeping back inside that bed asap.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

17:0070123About a week ago in this same or a spot very close, we saw a cyclist who had come off his bike and on the pavement, and people trying to assist him, I wonder if that was the same cause ??
It certainly needs seeing to to avoid more accidents.

17:0570127In the last 6 -8 weeks at least three cars have driven into the pit and had to be towed out. I wonder if there is any requirement for the rescue agency to clean up after they've retrieved the 'held' vehicle, and if not, why not? They ought to make sure it is safe for other road/pavement users surely?

18:0970150Mr Perkins why not cross over the road and do it yourself that would help the pavement users.?

18:1470152I always thought it was just plain gravel, not these little balls, but one learn`s so much when using one`s legs in preference to one`s motor car. Seriously though, I`m in no hurry at the moment to get another one. So much is missed when driving. After walking to River this morning, I walked down the back of Buckland paper mill to the sea front, after stopping at Chaplins for a bacon sarnie and tea. £2.99, excellent value! Plenty of people around the sea front, and the little beach cafe next to the seasports restaurant was doing very well. Wandered up the eastern end, and a few nice little sport`s cars were parked. Picked up later and home for dinner. Hope your day was just as pleasant.

20:4070165isn't it the job of kent highways to sort out the problem?

21:5070169Vic,
1. I don't live opposite the escape lane.
2. I don't have a hi-viz jacket which would be a necessity in that dangerous part of Whitfield Hill. If you'd walked backwards up this road you'd know how dangerous it is to even be a pedestrian.
3. I pay huge taxation for this to be dealt with properly by the relevant authority. Would you pay a decorator and then paint your own house while he sat drinking tea and reading newpapers? No, I thought not. So why ask others to do so?

22:1270176I know all that but if we do not do not take on some work like this it will not get done,if you walk along a road and see some paper etc on the path just pick it up,how many times do we and I have done it to said"It is not mine I did not drop it so it just stays there.we can all help by just picking it up,and it will make you feel better to by doing it.

22:2470180Sweeping up on a dangerous bend on a very busy road is NOT comparable to picking up a piece of litter Vic.

22:4270185you see the public walking all the time to and from work up that hill I agree it is a dangerous bend but it would not take long to just get a broom and clean off the path and you can keeping looking both ways and just stop when the cars go by .Anyway I have nothing to add to this.

07:3870206Vic - perhaps a trip into the 21st Century might be an idea? You cannot encourage people to sweep roads - there is the potential for litigation if anything happens, and it is, sadly, these days very real. Picking up litter is one thing - I do it myself - but sweeping roads on dangerous bends...............please don't encourage that!!!

09:5770238I have been out there and done it,I must say the pathway was bad and it is dangerous to walk on you can easy slip over, and the speed of cars going up and down some going well over 60to 70mph there must be away to slow them down ,I got talking to a person who lives there and he knows me from years ago when Chris and myself tried to help him get the 50mph sighs put there, but it is not working we have lots walking up and down that hill to work and even going to school so that pathway needs to be clear at all times.
I have told him what I thinks needs to be done so it is wait and see,but i will keep my eye on it and if I have to I will do it again.I will add to that, the pathway also needs to be done up and new tarmac put over it.

10:0570240Strange that because I saw a man sweeping it up this morning at about 7am when I went up the hill!! It wasn't Vic

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

10:1370242Sorry Jacqui but not there you did not I was told it never gets done and the amount I got off the path alway round the bend does show that to be the case, and if you are doing one of your it only Vic Matcham again trying to get headlines you could be right but it is the only way to get it done and could save a life just think about that before having ago at me.

10:1670243Vic,
Surely Sue's way of reporting it through the proper channels is the right way to get it done?
