18:2138164I`m surprised the big tv screen hasn`t been done as a posting before, as I`ve seen a mixed bag of remarks about this obcenity in the former market square. Does it bother you, irritate you, put you off going through that area? Will it have tourists flocking or drive them away? Does it lower the tone of the area? Who`s idea was it? Who`s paying for it? How are the BBC profiting out of it? Is it a waste of licensing money? Any good points?

18:4738166Many thanks Marek, I logged on there, and had a read. I know what it was put here for, but I was more interested on members comments on here. Have people mellowed? I know Howard would like it in his living room.

19:0438168Colin yes there was a few very big threads on here about the Big Screen as I remember. Im not sure if you know but there is a search engine above right on the anchor page(Members Club centre) which will help if you are looking for previous threads.

17:2638843Just out of curiosity, (and to boost my sagging ratings on this post), does anyone know why the tv screen hasn`t been working since last week? I must hasten to add, that I can account for all my movements since last week.

18:1038846Could it be because a few people are concerned at the running costs when the toilets have been closed to save money??

18:2338849Funny that Colin, I was going to ask the same question, as I have noticed over the last week it hasn't been on, as it usually gives me an indication as to how late I am, trying to get to work, if I get at Market Square for 8.05am, then I am in good time (but it doesn't happen often), so I have definitely missed it LOL

14:3838907maybe our susan has an alibi for that night?
wonder what it could be?
best just to get her down the nick, shine a light in her face and proffer the truncheons.
that used to get work quite well.

12:1139208Out of anger I think Roger, as I remember the market hall, and the fruit and veg stands outside, which were always well patronised, and then all swept away, along with the lanes and much of the surrounding area to leave us with no market place at all, apart from those stalls further up on odd days of the week. And now that tv

I do think Roger there is potential in that area to have something similar to what Faversham have in their town, and maybe make it something resembling a market square.

19:4739259That`s right Keith, it was alive, with plenty of fruit and veg stores inside, cobbler`s, sweet shop, wool shop, the list goes on. Don`t know the year it actually closed. ROGER, thanks for that. I did say in an earlier post I was going to try and be more positive this year, so I`ll start again. The market square area is a nice open space as you know, and ideal to set up a market day to put meaning back into the name again. What about those French marketeer`s, who set up shop over Folkestone? They always look like they do alright.

19:5739262Colin I must stand up for Roger on this one take it from me he is working on it.I have alot of time for Roger he is puting in alot of hours each day of the week and he does not get a penny for doing it,he is doing the same work as Mr Webb was doing but without pay and that is not right both councils should be helping in geting him a wage, or we will lose him.
