5 sets of new opinion polls on offer, seems like better news for the blues, certainly bad news for the reds.
anyway judge for yourselves.
mori/news of the screws
blues 36%
reds 30%
yellows 23%
onepoll/people
blues 32%
yellows 32%
reds 23%
icm/torygraph
blues 35%
yellows 31%
reds 26%
comres/independent
blues 34%
yellows 29%
reds 28%
bpix/mail
blues 34%
yellows 30%
reds 26%
what i find irritating about these polls is when they say 10% for others, how about detailing the votes of the other smaller parties, surely they are entitled to having their name read out?
whilst i am griping, why do they never publish seperate figures for wales, scotland and northern ireland?
all 3 are very different to england with nationalist parties standing.

dont forget Howard that these all have a +/-3% margin of error, frankly this all looks like hung parliament territory to me

Well done getting those figures up Howard. Yes the polls have tipped again in favour of the Tories. One extraordinary bad poll there too for the LibDems. The LibDEms are slipping back a little but I guess it has to be expected as euphoria is hard to maintain. Their meteoric rise was embraced by one and all because people are desperate for change alright..some freshness in politics. They clearly did not see the Tories supplying that change otherwise David Cameron would have run away with it long before now.
Back into ageist country now...where its certainly well established that Vince Cable is a very popular and likeable man, some of his performances on TV recently havent been tip top. In the three party economy debate for example with Andrew Neil and Stephanie Flanders he seemed a little lost presentation wise. He wasnt as slick as the other two, George Osborne and Alistair Darling, as those guys are way younger and it shows. He may be suffering the Ming Campbell factor. Nice man but too old for the job, a factor that caused Ming to step down as LibDem leader. The LibDEms are short of frontrank performers(apart from N Clegg of course)....and its all about HOW that message is delivered at the end of the day.
So the LIbdems are slipping back a tad but note..the Tories have gained by that same amount. So at a rough guess...the floaters who last week shifted to the LIbdems have drifted back to the Tories. The Labour vote remains stable.
Perhaps the might of the totally unsavoury Tory press last week has caused Nick Clegg damage as unfortunately people still beleive what they read in the papers. In a day and age when newspapers are struggling..they themselves mercilously hammered a nail in their own coffin this week, as they came out with such unpalatable one-sided and orchestrated rubbish.

Not biased at all then Paul.Papers whether national or local are biased .Take local councillors some get in the paper all the time others are there but never get a mention .How often do we see the Lib Dems mentioned .One of the councillors is a very good speaker but I cant recollect when he was last pictured
Everything you read has to be taken with a pinch of salt or a large drink
Speaking from many many years of experience most people vote for what they believe will benefit them .
Not many people look at the bigger picture ..
.
Only one poll matters the one on May 6th .

And it will all be down to the weather .Gordon Brown will be hoping for a sunny day .
Most Conservatives are good at casting their vote .Lib Dems if they have a good cause to vote for UKIP well we will have to watch Vic rounding up his support .He will be busy rushing from one Polling Station to another
If his Committee room is opposite my house I shall have to get my garage door painted with a Tory poster . .

Amazing how you dont like the Libdems getting the kind of scrutiny Conservative and Labour Parties have had in the past, PaulB.
The LibDems and Cleggy deserve all they get as a result of their manifesto trying to face all ways at once and self-righteous attitudes. You get what you sow.

Oh nooo Sue I am studiously neutral these days as I hope people are noticing...with okay perhaps just a hint of a leaning in one direction.
Yes I know BarryW and Sue that newspapers always have a biase one way or the other and I suppose fair enough, and I appreciate the need for scrutiny, but I thought the coverage of Nick Clegg last thursday prior to the debate (round two) took that too far and was outrageous. It had all the hallmarks of bought and paid for advertising. Most of the stories are/were unfounded completely but the headlines screamed everything from nazi to fraudster all on one day..it was too much of a co-incidence and did the newspaper business no favours in the long run. Its an industry struggling as we have often heard.

i noticed that the "telegraph" waited for the right moment to blast the story about nick clegg.
the facts of the matter are that he was totally innocent of any crime, just guilty of not going strictly by the rules.
the man has clearly rattled the establishment, the blue press are putting out scare stories now about the dangers of a hung parliament.
Is it me or every time someone does well we have to find something wrong with them . People like Nick Clegg because he is not Dc or Gb.

it is a british trait, the media picked on wayne rooney when he was a 16 year old, nick clegg must have expected it.
You are correct Howard im sure after England win the world cup ( i hope ) there will be some scandal involving one of the players in the papers soon after .

All of this proves that the election is far from decided; Sky News this morning produced a 'Poll of Polls'. What purpose this served is beyond me, and I'm not really sure I understood it..............

poll of polls is very sweeping, does not include how the close run constituencies, which decide elections think.
I thought Marek was the Pole of Poles?
It would be very interested to no how many people were questioned in these polls , as i said earlier only one poll matters .

these opinion polls are much more scientific nowadays mark, even though the numbers questioned are small.
i believe that icm is the most reliable.
Mark, Howard is right. I think they interview about 1200 people. I'v enevr understood how that can give an accurate representation of anything. If you ask 1200 folks in Aylesham about something, you will get a vastly different answer if you asked the same question in Mayfair. Still, the marketing and media types are king and now rule our daily lives, so who are we, as mere mortals, to challenge?
