No left turn from York Street into Townwall Street at the moment, even though today there's not much traffic.

School holidays start today. I wonder if everyone decides to go on holiday at the same time as usual?
Is the port affected by the world-wide computer problems?

Travel update
Summer getaway: Travel alert
This weekend (July 19 to 21) is expected to be one of the busiest for cross-channel traffic as most schools break up and people head off on their summer holidays.
The Olympic Games also begin in Paris next Friday (July 26) so this busy period will continue over the coming weeks.
We know this can impact residents and businesses in Dover when the town becomes congested and we understand how frustrating this can be.
We are not responsible for roads, which falls under Kent County Council and National Highways, but we work closely with the community and do all we can to offer support and advice.
FWe also have a dedicated page on our website where you can find up-to-date information including:
The expected busiest days for port traffic
Details on how traffic is being managed
Links to key services in the event of disruption.

I can see me struggling to get home from work yet again tomorrow morning. Need to go shopping on route as well. Didn't think that through?

Is the road through Whitfield still closed? Sure the works should be finished by now.
Next week the A256 is closed between Whitfield and Eastry in the Sandwich direction

Is this in addition to the £45m for the Dover Access Improvements levelling up allocated by the previous government or has that been scrapped?

Good question - I assume it's in addition.

Cars could be forced to queue in fields in order to avoid chaos on Kent’s roads when new EU border checks come in at the Port of Dover, according to reports.

I'm not sure I'd call Manston a field exactly, but there is one adjoining the Fastrack road... Mind you, it could be quicker to abandon juxtaposition.

Am I right in thinking that if we abandoned the juxtaposition arrangement, the problem suddenly shifts to the French side of the channel? Of course, the backlog will extend to the ferries and there would be delays etc, but the "optics" change from "delays at Dover" to "delays in France".
